alwayzsidewayz Posted 1 May 2020 Report Posted 1 May 2020 On social media, its almost daily thing at present. Boast that your T sport has 220bhp on a exhaust and filter, that your 3sge in your 20 year old ST202 makes 200bhp with no external mods at all. Its appears to afflict mostly 6 & 7 owners and those that run NA. Why do people do it? Its just cloud cuckoo land, Us Celica guys end up looking stupid by association, and when you do try to help them, you get all manner of dross thrown back. Its daft.. 1
paulgtt Posted 1 May 2020 Report Posted 1 May 2020 It’s 220bhp no proof but feels like it cos it pulls like a train 1
alwayzsidewayz Posted 1 May 2020 Author Report Posted 1 May 2020 Typically a train tends to have more than 220bhp too!!
Sherv Posted 1 May 2020 Report Posted 1 May 2020 Its the uninformed trying to fool the rest of the uninformed. 1
digs Posted 1 May 2020 Report Posted 1 May 2020 Well, my st202 has 250 ish lol FB is weird, some interesting stuff and cars around the world which is pretty cool but dramarama much ! Prob because everything has so much power these days can’t believe they aren’t quicker ! Better looking mind 1

I think I will just drop out of Social Media for a bit. I was just hanging on with C-19, but all this recent nonsense about Celicas and stupid owners just has tipped me over the edge. 1
alex282 Posted 1 May 2020 Report Posted 1 May 2020 I've found this trash talk in the lower end of the car scene in general but I've never found this with Celica owners, they seem to be more humble

ESTHAR_CITY Posted 3 May 2020 Report Posted 3 May 2020 Only one 7 I know where it has legit 231bhp N/A and that belongs to DTracer. Funny old world ain't it. 1

Think its the only Gen full stop with those figures currently on 4 pot N/A ,on here anyway.(at the moment). Getting genuine worthwhile power gains from N/A cars is time consuming and usually expensive ,even more so with Celicas,3sge or otherwise.First port of call is usually improving power to weight as most of us know. 1

The Celica is particularly difficult to get gains because the original was done by Yamaha who are masters of inlet & exhaust tuning. Most changes actually reduce (usable) power. 1

The issue also appears to be that some people are selling dreams off big bolt on power, when its all bogus. Hate seeing people ripped off
_Chris_ Posted 4 May 2020 Report Posted 4 May 2020 It has always been thus, the difference is that older cars were easier to get gains because they were much less optimised. People still remember the gains on minis and escorts and think they can still happen. One of the keys to the con is to reduce power output at lower revs (usually a significant loss if gains are to be made higher up) so when the slight increase in top end power comes in it feels much bigger. The downside of this with everyday driving is you need to keep stirring the gearstick on every slight hill. Vtek kicked in yo.
ams Posted 4 May 2020 Report Posted 4 May 2020 Some people dont understand that they have been on a generous dyno and actually believe the figures. Its just numbers unless you have a before and after on the same dyno to show you have made real gains or you have several cars on the same dyno to compare. 1
Black Knight Posted 4 May 2020 Report Posted 4 May 2020 You answered your own question Rich with your first 3 words...…...On Social Media 2
alwayzsidewayz Posted 4 May 2020 Author Report Posted 4 May 2020 There has always been pub talk etc, but maybe Facebook etc just means its easier for people to spot the bragging idiots Rich
meirion Posted 4 May 2020 Report Posted 4 May 2020 What you talking about you fools? My 205 in standard trim now puts out 310bhp with new plugs, oil and air filter. And the new radiator added at least 5bhp! 1 3
Bumblebee Posted 5 May 2020 Report Posted 5 May 2020 Cant think who you are all talking about Or can I? If you are going to boast or just pass on information as to how you gained extra power you really need to keep the proof and I dont know why they havent. Make your own mind up. If you dont see proof be sceptical as to the information provided. There are always going to be people who dont believe your power figures that's partly why you need to keep printouts. No arguement then. I have every print out for every tune I've had. More so I can see how things have improved with interim mods but also for the non believers. I do my best to help anyone out as do many people on here but I will only give advice on what I'm confident to give advice on. Id rather say I'm not sure than give bad advice. I didn't enjoy the fb post tbh and tried to get it closed. It started to get a little nasty imo. Instead of all the arguing and name calling people should have just had a little laugh to themselves. I must be getting old as a few years ago I'd have done the same. Not sure this post really gets over what I'm trying to say. All I can say is I've done my best 1 1
_Chris_ Posted 6 May 2020 Report Posted 6 May 2020 Thankfully, I glanced at some of the celica pages on FB and decided they were a waste of space. I have no idea what post you're on about. Facebook is not a good medium for useful information as it gets lost in no time. For me, it's a bit of fun. Sharing silly pictures and jokes and a bit of banter among friends. 1

I was thinking the same mate There are dyno's out there, that are intentionally generous because it does bring in the young lads, we used to see some of them on here years ago making 150 on a vvti with an exhaust and K+N 1
