G.Lewarne
You know the sort of thing - little bolt snaps somewhere, nothing important, so you use superglue or zip ties, or you break something else when doing a repair, or you hole your bumper and just use filler.... and think....feck it.... I will start: My drivers side rear ABS sensor cable bracket, just below the strut, is now held on with a combination of epoxy, superglue and a bolt I managed to get in the remains of the captive nut by one thread. Luckily this thing isn't really important nor under any load whatsoever, it literally just hold the ABS cable up Edited May 23, 2017 by G.Lewarne
Freeman558
I've actually been trying to get rid of all the bodged repairs that were already on mine. Mostly wiring or connectors. Replacing twist and tape with Scotchlok or, if I think it's something I might want to remove at a later date, bullet connectors. However, when I connected up my spoiler light I did a twist and tape job, planning on doing it properly once I was sure it was working... That was quite a few months ago now Lack of any real mechanical knowledge/skills prevents me from doing too much harm
_Chris_
If it wasn't limited to celicas, I could mention the copper pipe over the snapped gearstick on my old escort. It got me home, and worked so well I didn't rush to do the job properly. The cops weren't impressed when they pulled me over one day though.
99GT
I had a throttle cable snap on a motorbike once so the twist grip wouldn't work. Had a few tools on me so rode home pulling the snapped end of the throttle cable with a pair of pliers!
Shipwrecked
I must admit to a few in my younger years but not celica related I'm afraid. The pizza box, household polyfilla and 2 cans of touch up to rebuild a rear door the day before a big Ford show is my most memorable one.....no one noticed and the car even went to its grave with its very own slice of Domino's
Foogles
My old Gen7 has a cable tie in one of the suspension struts somewhere. The specific part wasn't under any stress but it has a cable tie in there all the same! Oh and the power streering cooling pipe leaked and I chopped out the leaky pipe and put a hose from a washing machine in to bridge the gap. Did the job and never leaked again

arizona
Mine wasnt on a Celica but a brand new VW Van had just put a new elevating roof, windows, heating, full camping conversion in and it was ready to go to the customer. Decided to test the new conversion before they collected it, they knew it was being tested. Up in the windy roads of Highlands on a hairpin met someone the other way and though only touched ended up with a fair size dent in the sliding door, no paint damage. Took door panel off at side of road, pushed and dent popped out but wouldnt stay. To this day it probably still has the piece of wood i found to keep it pushed out behind the trim panel
Sherv
Done a few little goodies on cars over the years to "see me through"... duck tape wrapped around the high pressure PAS pipe on the gen4 to hopefully drive up to Coventry for our first gen4 meet was a good one...then a series of cable ties over the top of it to keep the pressure in,it looked like a dinosaur spine But it did the job, replaced the foam lagging over the top, wiped the dribbles of fluid up ,and took the car for the MOT. It passed
Cal670
The amount we had to drill open the holes in the boot to fit my second TRD spoiler... Still doesn't it flush lol.
silver gt
There is absolutely nothing bodged on my Celica...but back in the 70s I did some dreadful things An old Vauxhall Victor with terminal rust on an inner wing by the bonnet hinge. When it fell apart and the corner of the bonnet started flapping I reinforced the inner wing with some pine offcuts I found in the shed.

Doesn't sound like a bodge, sounds more like you improved upon Vauxhall's engineering.
Gazbuscus
I had to string up an exhaust on my Clio. The bracket snapped so had to tie some bright blue string around the thing and lash it the boot catch. Stayed like that for about 3 weeks before I got it sorted. Still - got my first aftermarket 3" twin Pipercross exhaust out of it sounded like a proper chav chariot then! On the Celica, if you discount the fact a raked a socket driver down my rear quarter scratching the paint when fitting a new boot strut, the worst I've done is hack my wheel arch liner to death whilst trying to fit an Injen CAI to my last T-Sport. I wasn't anticipating the tight angles I'd encounter and in typical Gaz fashion went at all very ill-prepared. That poor arch liner got raped with a rusty saw knife looking thing and a pair of reasonably blunt snips. It was pure carnage and definitely my stand out "f**k it, that'll do" moment. Oh... and as for the paint - nothing a little touch up pen didn't *uh hem* fix. I try not to dabble tbh - I'm not that clued up really and most things rarely go well when I use my hands, I'm surprised I've stayed married so long

It was pure carnage and definitely my stand out "f**k it, that'll do" moment. after lowering my 7 I got tired of my knackered old undertrays rubbing on everything. Problem with them was that all the pop clip holes were torn or elongated, and the plastic had gone saggy especially around the oil change panel. I cut them up with a knife so I still have the wheel arch sections, and about 2 inches of panel on the drivers side (to protect all the pulleys), and fitted a flywheel cover from AMS because mine was just....gone 30 mins with a knife later - factory looking wheel arches, but nothing underneath Tell you what though - not having the undertrays makes any engine, oil change, gearbox oil change etc an absolute doddle. Bit of string rigged up from throttle, bit of wood tied at other end. String ran through window edge of bonnet and through the side window. Glad it wasn't raining. Got me home, and to work next day till I got a replacement. But Celica related this takes the biscuit. Vert failed MOT on rear bearing. No biggie right? Just remove wheel, entire brake calipers, disk, brake shoes and all related springs. ( I'll have to open other side to figure out how to get the damn brake shoes back together. ) Unbolted 4 bolts holding hub to find this. Spot the odd one out. Its the 3rd one. Numpty before cross threaded one of the bolts, screwed the threads on it and the hub. Lost or broke another and fitted an engineering bolt same diameter bit completely wrong thread. That screwed the threads in hub. One bolt fell out when I lossened it. Other took serious leverage with breaker a bar to get it out. So 2 hub bolt holes screwed. Now have to replace the entire hub as well as the bearing. Aagggggggggggghh. Edited September 24, 2017 by AlexD
