  1. I can measure it and you can compare other side?
  2. is it different from the celica st162? I might have one later this week Gary loveday on facebook makes the shelf clips - ive sent him a screeshot of this request
  3. Cant imagine it costs a lot to renew a trademark and would think its a just in case thing more than anything else. If they do bring out a celica - I want it to be a proper toyota I would have considered the new supra if it was a toyota - I like BMWs but I dont want one, sorry but the build quality is not the same which shows when cars get 10-20 years old. I dont buy into the reason being that the heart of supra was a straight 6. They could have used the lexus RC platform which would have given them a 2.0 turbo, hybrid, 3,5 v6 4wd and a 5.0 v8 monster for not a lot of effort - and with all those platform options I reckon it would probably sell a lot better as well .
  4. I say this whenever I hear people say "OH look toyota has another recall - not as great cars as you keep saying" Great example is the window switch recall on the mk2 yaris at 10 years old. VAG window switches break after 5 years and they have done for years, same as there window regulators which have been the same shitty design for over 20 years! Add to that door looms breaking after 3 years and the dealer not being able to supply them as there is a 3 month backlog - yet they deny there is a known fault. Even the oil issue on the 1zz - the VAGs had a 1.6 engine around the same age and that was awful for oil burning - and it wasn't down to gummed up rings like the 1zz (which I blame on lack of maintenance /. wrong oil)
  5. Do think it’s pretty amazing that Toyota are replacing the inflators on air bags on 25 year old cars when officially the service life was 10 years.
  6. Seen loads of corollas/ versos/ avensis that have rusted and snapped under the rubber. But on the celicas never seen one snap and when ive taken the rubber and ciut the metal part off completely they havent been rusty underneth. Its another example of the difference in component / build quality that Ive seen with european vs japanese built cars. Have you found the same? Theres loads of small things ive found over the years to be common on euro built cars compared to jap built cars that have put me off them.
  7. I pulled the rubber part off mine when it came loose and left the metal bit under on it and it was fine , see loads of cars where the rubber has come off - probably more didnt have it than did to be honest.
  8. my daily went from 40+ a year to under 3 a year, because I changed my job and used my bike when i could. Id still class it as my daily as I'd have no issues parking it in a car park, taking it out in the rain or chucking rubbish in to go to the tip
  9. Have seen it before , used paint stripper to take it all the way back to bare metal before painting again but that car had about 20 coats of paint on it including at least 4 colour changes
  10. I was thinking the same mate There are dyno's out there, that are intentionally generous because it does bring in the young lads, we used to see some of them on here years ago making 150 on a vvti with an exhaust and K+N
  11. Some people dont understand that they have been on a generous dyno and actually believe the figures. Its just numbers unless you have a before and after on the same dyno to show you have made real gains or you have several cars on the same dyno to compare.
  12. Given the state of some of the cars I have seen 6 months after an MOT, I sincerly hope not. Goverment didnt follow the EU regualtion of moving to 2 year MOTs thankfully.
  13. Think it comes down to the type of checks that the police can pull you over for - so lights not working, stuff hanging off the car, bald tyres. This is all standard stuff as per the highway code: https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-safe When you insure an MOT exempt car, you are advised that the car should be roadworthy and the best way of doing that is by having to MOT'd. When I insured a car that had previoulsy been Cat-N'd( old cat d), they again advised that although it didnt need a new MOT it must be roadworthy and advised that I get a new MOT done.
  14. dropped you a message mate
  15. if you buy a new matrix then you can do it without removing the dash as it will come with new clips A used one - if you open the clips you wont get them back on - so I supply them with the pipes as well. to fit it complete - to fit that the dash needs to come out. A lot of people chops the pipes half way on the old and new and join with rubber hose so that you dont have to get the dash out. I have one good matrix left if you do want to get a used one.
  16. The original bearings very rarely fail on the celica - my car had the originals on all 4 wheels at 288,000 miles. Usual cause of a failed bearing is potholes - they are pretty well sealed once all fitted so driving through puddles shouldnt have caused it to fail.
  17. Mintex have a good reputation on here but I find they are very much a budget brand. Before I opened the thread, I though I bet he's running mintex pads. I found they never lasted more than 10,000 miles - compared to 20-30k on other brands.
  18. not a fan, I imagine with it going through a valve you wont get as much out and any sludge wont get past the valve either, I expect it will take longer to drain as well
  19. Great to hear this has stayed in the club
  20. celica ones arent worth that much, genuine ones £35 - £40, aftermarket - £10 - £15 - thats on the g7 - the earlier ones are even less.
  21. There are drains at the bottom of the doors - if you block these your doors will rot. I wouldnt put wax in there - would poke the holes to make sure they are not blocked though
  22. Agree on Scottish cars - have seen some that have been really bad from there. Most coastal cars seem to be bad Cars from around the midlands seem to be ok.
  23. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MOBILE-SCISSOR-LIFT-TILTING-CAR-LIFT-RAMP-ADJUSTABLE-WIDTH-1500Kg-Capacity/283504978329?hash=item420236a999:g:9KwAAOSwcUBYLvBi I think bumblebee has something similar, looking at getting one for when I get rid of the unit, been working on the floor using axle stands all week and now i think ive done my back in... @Bumblebee
  24. I have 2 front subframes left now if anyone needs one - when they are gone they are gone
