Opinions on car cover use.

Question

I've bought a cover for the ST205 but when I mentioned it to the guys that did the respray they grimaced and said that it was okay to use one in this weather but they wouldn't recommend it in the winter. Only ever put a cover on when the car has dried but even then it can sweat and hold the moisture in making corrosion even quicker. They reckoned it was better to leave the car sat in the weather so that air was constantly circulating, letting the car "breathe".

Opinions please because I don't have a garage and don't want to screw up after getting her looking right.

I had the Avon under car covers 3 of them. one soft one on the paintwork, then 2 waterproof ones to keep it dry. The bonnet came up with micro blistering, so now I just let it sit in it's car port/shelter and wash the dirt and dust off in the spring.

having that many covers cant let the moisture of condensation out.

Ive mentioned this before that yes, no cover is perfect however my one from Specialised Covers has done my gen4 no harm at all over 6 years and a respray inbetween.i didn't cover the car for a few weeks after the new paint though.its breathable and most out there just aren't. When the weather's alright I always took the cover off now and again if it was convenient. but it was covered for a good few weeks at a time over the winter . Through snow and all sorts. But that's just my experience. I wouldn't use any other cover myself .Handily I got my garage sorted today so gen4 is now inside , hurrah.still tempted to get one made up for the faff though.

Anyone used one of those car tents? Think you get inflatable ones too.

I only use mine when I've cleaned it the day or few days before a show so it stays clean, apart from that its out in the elements!

I think that will be my tactic. No prolonged use just clean, dry, cover overnight.
