Tiddles
My life just gets better and better. Hope my beloved Celica can be saved. Stupid tw*t in a VW run in to the back of me when I was stationary and pushed me into an oncoming car. My car drives perfectly and everything works. Back of tailgate is a bit bent but still closes and locks. Bonnet opens and locks but is a bit tight on the catch. Considering the damage to the VW it shows hoe tough the celica is. Old Red Celica
Written off, unless you rebuild yourself. AMS in the Corp section may well have all the bits you need, but there's stuff more than skin deep that will need replacing. See what the Insurance Co have to say/offer

Sherv
Glad you're ok.Judging by the vw it was a reasonable hit,i would guess theres more damage beneath the plastics as Bryan suggests unfortunately.be surprised if not but in any case the car protected you which is all you can ask from a 16 year old motor
Adrian Flux Insurance
Hi, Looking at the damage I would suspect your insurer would write the vehicle off I'm afraid. You might be able to buy it back and repair it yourself though. Regards, Dan.
teamdoa
Like others said, I think it depends what the crash has done to your car underneath the body panels as to whether it is worth keeping. The repair/body shops that these insurance companies use charge a fortune to do the work, so even if you have a very small scrape, they factor in the cost of the vehicle/age etc and then the cost the repair/body shops charge and go by that. Sometimes it is best to just get the car back from the insurer and source the parts yourself and take it to some other good repair/body shop of your choosing if you really want to keep the car. In fact most of the time, the very same repair/body shops will do the work for half of what they originally would have charge doing it through your insurance. That might be worth doing if the car is special to you, but remember it will always be tagged as written off in your documents. Crazy Cat Lady
I guess once the insurers have written off the vehicle; a buy back and re-build will be subject to a category N (formerly category D) which may lower it's resell value (?) Assuming the VW twit admits fault and you are blameless i think it depends upon how much the insurance company give you to cover the loss of the vehicle. It would be interesting to know this. May be better [or an option] to take the opportunity to find and buy another?
RUToyota
Unless it holds something really special for you...then I'd wave it goodbye...buy another. I would always have niggling doubts even after repair. Sad to hear though and I'm glad you were ok.
Tiddles
The VW twat has admitted fault and this is backed up the people he pushed me in to. Car has not been complected yet so will keep you posted. Also getting a quot from a local body shop.
G.Lewarne
you will almost certainly have structural damage at the back - you see the biggest ding in the bumper? the rear crash bar is literally just millimetres behind that part of the bumper (in a non damaged state) so it will be crumpled there, at least. shows how strong the chassis is though! Tiddles
Car being collected by the insurance company on Thursday. So today I took it to a local trusted bodywork fitter for a quote. He simply said it is too fare gone. The boot floor is crumpled there is a damage to the front behind the bumper. So my beloved car is dead Engine is from a 2006 model and has done less than 50,000. Leather interior is perfect as are doors and all the electrics are fully working. Still drives a dream,
Old Red Celica
Did they make you a decent offer or do they want to get it in their possession first?

G.Lewarne
buy it back and sell it for parts on here, probably get more back than it costs to repurchase it.
Tiddles
That is my plan. Should get a few hundred for the 2006 engine. My only problem is storage and removing of parts. I live in flats with a communal car park.
Tiddles
Car is a CAT B. They offered me £1285 but I told them I want close to £200 due to the rebuilt low mileage engine and the immaculate condition of the car plus the full service history.
