  1. At least it hasn't damaged your sense of humour...I'll give you that. Just a pet hate of mine.
  2. Jeeez...I hate those big wings...unless it's for the track. It always smacks of trying to hard...and "look at me"...for ALL the wrong reasons. Each to their own I guess. I'll get me coat.!
  3. Yep...same here in sleepy Rutland...doesn't seem five minutes since I was paying well below 120p per litre...now it's 127.....Summer is here again.
  4. Unless it holds something really special for you...then I'd wave it goodbye...buy another. I would always have niggling doubts even after repair. Sad to hear though and I'm glad you were ok.
  5. Great.,..only 26 years to go before I can forget about an MOT.. ...but seriously, I can't see that being right if the car has to spend any time on public roads. Surely a "responsible" owner would want to know that the vehicle passes an independent assessment of it's safety.?
  6. Nice one...great result..and no more worrying...(for another year..) Neil
  7. The worse thing is...you are at the mercy of someone's opinion on the day...(unless you are having the MOT done by the garage that looks after your car..that's usually a good result.) All you can do is present the vehicle as best you can having checked the basics....I spent some years in the trade and even the resident mechanics got a little nervous when MOT time came around. I was a little nervous myself back in May when my imported 2003 Estima went for it's first MOT in my ownership...but no worries..it went through with no advisories whatsoever. Neil
  8. Like it...a lot. ! ...only thing I'd change is the white, way OTT Dunlop tyre sidewall crap....detracts from the car IMO. Neil
  9. Happy 2 Anniversary RUToyota!

  10. ...and the flat desert that is Rutland...hard to find a bloody hill of any note here let alone a mountain. Neil
  11. Agree...don't use it..if you value your car and want to keep it. Much better to do a "proper" repair. Neil
  12. Yummy....me likes cake...what a tease you are, Debs.! Happy anniversary. Neil
  13. Agree, Dean...if I was looking to buy a Celica now, I'd definitely be looking for a "blue" edition. I think it is THE best interior.. Neil
  14. Good luck...nowt wrong with a nice Jag. A car I've always fancied owning...but never have.! Neil
  15. Seems a strange/rare area of failure (AFAIK)...but I guess it's fixable though surely.? Neil
  16. That's not good news, mate...hope it's not as bad as you might fear. ...as per Cravo...can't actually read the pic you posted. Neil
  17. Know how ya feel, Dean...I shudder to think how much dosh I must have spent buying cars over the years....and I now refuse to spend mega money on them....I could only ever buy a Celica that's 3 years newer than mine so I think what's the point.?...it might not be as good as the one I've got...!!( I'm not wanting a GT or a TSport etc) Jackie wants to have an SUV of some type (eg Qashqai/Rav 4/Kia Sportage/Honda CRV) in the not too distant future so I may put any of my "car" money towards that and have it as our main vehicle (holidays/long distance travel) and keep the Celica longer term simply for fun. As ever...things can change.! Neil
  18. Just coming up to 2 years now...and I usually start to look for a replacement after that time...but the Celica is a hard car to replace.!..so I think she'll be with me a while yet. In the last year it's had a new clutch and 4 new tyres so I wanna get me moneys worth.!! Neil
  19. The nose cone badge...I simply measured mine and gave Dazzer the total width and height measurements of the OEM badge and he created the correct size oval from that...fitted just fine. Neil
  20. I've been using this for quite a while now, Andy....a very handy "tool" to have and often cuts through the sellers bullsh1t to expose some nasties.! Time and again I've seen what appear (and described) to be "mint" cars only to find a list of worrying advisories (or previous failures) that will need potentially expensive attention....or at the very least suggests that the vehicle hasn't perhaps had the care it should have. I note that quite a few cars now are pictured with the reg, plate obscured in some way...wonder why.??? Neil
  21. Agree...."Coastal" cars always suffer more. The fuel tank on my Celi obviously suffered because it was replaced just before I bought the car (2 years ago nearly)...my subframe didn't look bad at all..but it was treated and Hammerited last Autumn nevertheless. Not really looked at the sills tbh...but I'm hoping they are ok..can't see anything obvious. Fortunately I can choose when I use the car so I try to avoid the worse days. Don't really know just how susceptible to rot the Celi is.???...but I know I've seen much worse over the years. Neil
  22. How tragic...and no doubt a very cherished car.. Neil
  23. Sorry mate..I'd forgotten you've actually heard it.! Neil
  24. I think many peeps find the looks/style of the Celica, attractive..even though many don't actually know what it is.!! My Celi is a bog standard 140 with no body modifications whatsoever..and still get's compliments..."Oooo look, Mum," said one young kid waiting to cross the road with his Mum..." a racing car"... But most of the "compliments" I get are about the lovely sound it makes.!!. The back box was replaced 2 years ago...just a few weeks before I bought the car..and as far as I can tell it's just a "Bosal" make...i.e. nowt special.(according to the invoice I've got it was about £90.)..but for some reason (I know not what) it has the most glorious throaty soundtrack.!...I'd definitely have another if I ever needed one. Can't say I've ever had any negative comments tbh. Neil
