I painted the exhaust manifold heat shield on my gen6 with high-temp Cerakote. It's a bit of a palava & you need an HVLP gun etc but it's held up perfectly. Looks like BBQ paint will do the job too though

Quick question. I'm replacing the heat shield above the CAT on my gen 7 and was thinking I would paint it to try and stop the bolts holes corroding. Do you reckon I would be OK with normal etch and stone chip paint? Seems excessive to but some VHT paint.

ECU REPAIR COMPANY RECOMMENDATIONS
ams replied to JudyMegWilliams's topic in General Celica Discussion
Someone did post recently but dont think they put the details up, ill have a search -
Can anybody recommend an ECU Repair Company? I used ECU Doctor near Plymouth 9 years ago but the specialist in older/classic cars retired in 2022 due to ill health. He was brilliant so it's a shame. I'm hoping somebody on here has used someone they could recommend. Thanks so much!

Well, if you are talking about which brand is best, a friend of mine was a PhD chemist working for an oil company. When asked which oil he used his reply was "Whichever big-name brand is on special offer in the supermarket". If we're taking viscosity, I go with Slybunda. Looking at Toyota Data, generally, over a period of years, they've moved to recommending thinner oils than they used to for a given engine. We still have relatively mild (warm) winters in the UK. It all goes back to the old oil advert which claimed that more engine wear was done starting up and reversing off the drive on a cold morning than in the next 100 miles. Whatever happened to oil adverts?

As thin as possible, as thick as necessary. Going thicker on oil is not always good

Nope, Sold it to buy a Rav4, which in turn was replaced by a mk3 MR2 TF300, called Heinz, as he is number 57.

Do you not have the black SR anymore?

Good to hear from you again! The trick these days is to get in and out of the car slowly . You can still attend shows with a non-Celica you know? For instance, of the 24 cars attending Prescott later in May for a non-competitive Hill climb day, 9 or 10 are non-Celicas!!! They all love us so much..... Sherv is coming from Kent in his Honda, and we have a Rav4 coming from the Isle of Wight - so no excuse to miss out! I'm sure I can still get a ticket for you -
