Mot Failures

1. Rear brake pads less than 1.5mm thick.
2. Rear (both) brake disc in such a condition that it is seriously weakened.
3. Nearside front tyre tread depth below requirements of 1.6mm.
4. Offside front tyre tread depth below requirements of 1.6mm.
5. Nearside rear tyre tread depth below requirements of 1.6mm.
6. Nearside front headlamp aim beam image obviously incorrect.
7. Offside front headlamp aim too high and too far to the right.
8. Nearside front wheel nut missing.
9. Offside front wheel nut missing.
10. Nearside wheel nut missing.
11. Offside rear wheel nut missing.
12. Exhaust emissions carbon monoxide content after 2nd fast idle excessive.
13. Exhaust emissions hydrocarbon content after 2nd fast idle excessive.
14. Exhaust emissions lambda reading after 2nd fast idle outside specified limits.
15. Parking brake lever has no reserve travel.

Advisory: Low brake fluid.

Test Drive

I have not driven this far due to the radiator leak but appears to go ok when last driven!

Engine

Runs ok but engine is now knocking when you rev it & is smoking from exhaust after the gas test for the mot!
Radiator is leaking & garage has advised me it needs a new radiator!

How did that thing pass an MOT a year ago? I'm guessing until recently that thing was being driven around on public roads in that state!

It's not too bad.

4 new tyres

4 missing locking wheel nuts

Brake fluid low because the pads are worn, Discs worn because more than likely the sliders are seized.

The biggest thing to worry about is the knocking engine

Another addition to the Wymondham museum?

  • 2 weeks later...

Except for the engine :o

If it weren't for that I could get it through the MOT just using the spares in my garage that I've accumulated over 3 months of ownership and a set of rear discs.

Was more shocked that someone would try to put this through the MOT!
