  1. My name is Chris and the wrong side of 50 and I am addicted to gen 6 Celica Convertibles, I was "clean" for seven years but relapsed last year and have had three since. Unfortunately my addiction also means I buy totally impractical cars just to annoy the wife, it's the only pleasure that's not been cut off. Thats not to say she does not moan about it and she says things like why have you got three cars, to which I answer, because there is no room on the drive for four. I will keep taking the medication and this time next year I hope to be Celica free. By the way I am not a hairdresser
  2. Sell it, no matter how much money you throw at it, you will not feel any different.
  3. Mine has a round barrel key thing on top of the alarm black box thingy under bonnet so I can turn the siren off. If yours is same maybe its been turned off. Just guessing.
  4. Thanks all for responses, I love the look of the ones in pics, I have two reasons for cover, I live near a wood and it ends up covered in damp leaves, second reason next doors cat thinks convertible hood is ideal for sharpening its claws. Have tried all sorts to keep it off, pepper, moth balls, cat scarers. Not tried a 12 bore yet
  5. Mines called Celica when its behaving itself and That F*@#*%G B*#*!?D car when its not.
  6. It looks like summer is over I need to cover the vert for winter as I have no garage, can anyone recommend one that they have used and liked. Been searching internet and the reviews on some are not good, the more expensive ones seem to get worse reviews.
  7. YOu can always park mx5 around the corner so nobody sees it On the drive
  8. Today I had to call in at Williams BMW motorbike place to pick a part up for a mate, when I come out there were four motorbike types! Admiring the car, I had the hood down of course! and one says bet they dont come cheap, no idea what he thought it was but he could have had ten for the cost of his bike. :0) Put a smile on my face but none of them were called Bridget :0( or were they?
  9. The way I look at it is, my 5.7 hemi loses 2k a year depreciation, the celica including buying, shipping, fluid change etc. Has cost me just under 2k and next year with luck and a prevailing wind it could still be worth £1500+ therefore it will have cost me £500 for a years motoring. (not including tax insurance etc) now thats a bargain. Well thats how I justify it!!! When my Mrs asks why I need two cars, I reply because three will not fit on the drive. :)
  10. Do you want the real amount or the amount I tell my wife
  11. They usually do it by offering something stupid such as buy a 1p coin for 2p or used sim cards for 1p. The exchange is good feed back for a good feedback. Search 1p aution on ebay. They can generate a high good feedback for little cost the account is usually sold on in the disguise of an ongoing business. Dodgy seller buys it, off loads a load of dodgy or non excistent stuff quick, dissapears. Peeps just see 100% good feedback and trust the seller. So if you look at a feedback and its all private run away!!
  12. usually your gut instinct is the right one, personally I would have walked away. Dont forget on ebay you can buy feedback, I have seen many accounts up for sale. so even 100 percent feedback is no guarantee.
  13. Cheaper option, go easy on the accelerator. :0)
  14. Its a massive jack ex garage, it was too heavy to move about and I decided that I had enough of messing with cars, was doing a bit of land fill at the side of the house and decided to throw in there along with loads of old tools and stuff!! What i did not realise is how deep I buried it.Got myself a piddly jack but now I have another celica to play with I wanted to be able to jack both wheels at the same time, so had this bright idea to dig it up!! Now I have a knackered back hydraulic oil all over the block paving and the Mrs giving me no end of grief. Should have just gone and bought a new one! On the plus side, I do now have a hole in the ground about the size of the Mrs, and seems a shame to waste it!
  15. I spray liberally with WD40 then put 3 in 1 oil on it and leave to soak, recently did this on a trolley jack that had been buried in the garden (dont ask!!) for six years. When dug up everything was seized, after a jet wash it was sprayed in wd40 then the 3 in 1 oil applied and bobs your granny its now working. the only thing that I snapped was the plastic filler cap on resevoir. I will add that my 3 in 1 is about ten years old I know a lot of stuff has changed of late due to Eu regulations and what chemicals are now allowed.
  16. Always go with your gut instinct, its never wrong!
  17. I have used them twice, first time was on a red mettalic Mazda with a full length key scratch, superb job. Second time on a Jeep Grand Cherokee and was not impressed, he had only been in the game a few weeks. So the key is to find out how much experience they have when they come to give you a quote.
