  1. I would say it is the battery. there is enough juice in it to light the dash, but the current draw to turn it over is pretty high so that is what the clicking is. Not enough power in it to engage the solenoid on the starter. You could well have a dead cell in the battery.Especially if it has been standing for two years. If the car is on it's wheels then you could always try putting it in gear and Bump starting it. It worked with me when my battery died. It is not an ideal way of getting things going but another avenue to explore.
  2. It could be a whole hoste of things which trigger the engine management light, so without getting a diagnostic check done you would be pouring money down the drain changing things on the off chance you may change the item which is causing the issue. The ODB scanners are good and allows you to turn off warning lights. They also point you in the direction of which item is about to or has failed.
  3. I'm sure that was meant to be the 'Plastic red nose' not some Night-Rider style light with a double post of the same car....... but I like your style Ian
  4. Not that is the work of a properly trained 'old school' engineer.
  5. Jeeeeeeezus, I can't quite believe you are asking this. Sound kit wire is no where near man enough for the battery cable. Battery cables are for car batteries, Sound wire are for ICE systems. 6" of the correct cable isn't going to break the bank, Just buy the correct stuff then there is no risk of your pride & joy going up in flames with an electrical fire when you try & start your car.
  6. his Beemer is a petrol & it's a 320Ci vert. Needs a cable borrowed off the National Grid to run everything electrical on it. Pity the engine is FUBAR'd But that's another story.
  7. Not sure of the gauge size but my sons BWM cable is 10mm thick (12mm over the outer covering). That is standard factory fit for a Beemer.
  8. Are you relocating the battery to the boot then ? If you are, I will measure the thickness of the wire on my sons BMW which had a boot mounted battery, I know the wires are bloody thick compared to a standard engine bay mounted battery.
  9. Have you tried locking the car with the remote then opening the tailgate with the key ? That always sets off the alarm.
  10. Silly question, but how do you know it's a broken reluctor ring and not just a sensor gone down ? I had an ABS issue on mine for nearly 2 years. Turned out to be 2 sensors had died flagging up the ABS error light. Was a real PITA to get the sensors out as I had to drill them out of the hub.
  11. That means the 'ModGod' is going to be busy in the Mod cave
  12. Wow. 400 miles to a tank on open road. I have only ever come close to that once. Most long distance trips I do I get about 370 from full to empty. Most commuting trips I get about 300 to a tank. With some supermarket fuels I can only get 270 to a tank.
  13. sprayed mine with some cheapo paint 16 months ago. Still looking OK
  14. To be honest, unless you are planning to have an accident for insurance claims, (Which I doubt you would) You would have more chance being thrown off a Donkey on Blackpool beach than you would having an accident with the baby on board and the glass shattering causing cuts. It may be just piece of mind, but I wouldn't bother. I have gone through parenthood and have many friends who have too, I can't think of any of them who have had an accident where the little passengers got hit by flying glass. Come to think of it I don't know of any of them who had an accitent worthy of being called an accident where the impact was enough to break glass. But that is just me.
  15. Most of the fixings to the body are metric fine pitch Especially the safety critical or structural items.. I know for certain that the caliper mounts to hub are along with the front strut brace mounting to the bulkhead on the Gen 6 so I would guess the 7 would be the same.
  16. I'm 48, All my working life has been in engineering, currently working as a Metrology inspector in a Norfolk sports car plant. The Celica is my first Japanese car,and really the first car I have really looked after and spent money on other than just a service. Previous cars were just rep-mobiles and practical A to B cars (Except a Mk1 VW Scirocco GT about 20 years ago) Most of my engineering background & knowledge had been used on restoring & rebuilding old British motorcycles. The Celica has brought me into the car club scene with CCUK.and the past 5 years of ownership has been probably the most enjoyable of car ownership. Long may it last.
  17. Not so much 'In the post' but collected from a fellow member. A very nice, brand new aluminium Powerdeck spacer & all the trimmings. Thank you Ben
  18. Angle grinder is the way to go, just take care & use common sense. plus safety goggles.
  19. Looks like I may be getting my money back. Had to laugh when the claims dept said they would try and sorce another one for me.Good luck in tracking one down. Still gutted though as it was a good find.
  20. Happy that my roof spoiler arrived today Very unhappy that it was in two bits Genuine Toyota one too. Queue the Tourettes outbreak F@!!***%$%ng W@**%$r co*k s*&%*ng $hite Bastard Fedex service. .
  21. Had the car 5 years now, not really spent too much on her apart from the usual service parts, Full brake & suspension rebuild last year did put quite a big hole in the savings that was about £1200.00 but did include paying a garage to do some work which i just couldn't be bothered / didn't have time to do. (BIG mistake) I suppose over the years it soon totts up so I sopped counting really.
  22. Happy 5 Anniversary Monkey Boy 1!
