Serratia
Infrared digital thermometer, just point and shoot and it gives a reading between -50 and 550 degrees C. Thought it would come in handy for detecting binding brakes by reading the temp of the discs, plus I'm interested to see what temps various engine parts reach on the track, I might also pop the lid of the brake fluid reservoir and measure the temp of the fluid. Tried it out on a few things at home and its pretty accurate. Radiator in the hallway Edited March 13, 2013 by Serratia
InsolentMinx
erm, should you pop the lid off the reservoir when the brake fluid is going to be hot? they usually say not to open the various lids when the engine's warm.
Bumblebee
you wont get true reading on the brake fluid as its too far away from where the heat is being generated
MYK
You going to use that on various body parts as well? Or is it just me who though of that....
Serratia
That's the coolant which you shouldnt open when the engine is hot, I think I'll be safe with the brake fluid unless its boiling which is very unlikely unless the brakes are binding. I'll measure the temp through the side of the reservoir first.
InsolentMinx
ahh okies. just thinking safety first temp of calipers & discs would be interesting though
