oMIKEYo
Got my rear number plate surround so took old reg off and it was just stuck on. The number plate surround has holes in it which tbh id rather screw the surround on than just stick it with double sided tape. So wtf are these and how do I get them out. They're blocked on the rear of them after I've removed black trim so it's like.. Weres the other end...
rpsmith79
They look like the old plastic screws that were holding a no. plate on have snapped off, have you tried gripping the yellow part with some pliers and tried to unscrew them
johndps
Dunno about the lower thing, but the top looks like plastic tamperproof screws for a number plate. If it's plastic, drill it.
Bumblebee
They look like the old plastic screws that were holding a no. plate on have snapped off, have you tried gripping the yellow part with some pliers and tried to unscrew them failing that drill them out , will be easy as they will be plastic screws i would think, you will need a 6.5mm drill bit as i believe they are 8mm, then tap out with an 8mm tap to clear the threads, you may not need a tap you might be able to pickle them out with a small screwdriver

Ant Baker
Yeah when putting a TRD surround on my car i snapped these, simple enough just drill em out like everyone says
planc
If you are worried about drilling centrally and tapping out you can drill a smaller hole in the snapped plastic screw and fix your surround on with some self tappers.
Boynxdoor
Can it not be access from the inside by removing the plastic trim inside the boot?
oMIKEYo
I got one of them out using pliers as rich said above. The other one is flush though and needs drilling out. The trim is off at the minute as well as every other trim in my boot due to fitting rear strut haha however were these things are there is metal bits over it so you can't get in or behind it very well. I'll attempt to drill in to the other one tomorrow. Another question. To fit num plate holder do I just buy more of these as in a number plate kit? Or are they specialised things as there is a thread for them if I manage to get the other one out. Will make life easier

InsolentMinx
i just wedged a small phillips screwdriver into the end of mine when they did that, and unscrewed them simples. ebay or halfords sell plastic numberplate screws they're all the same. i'm not sure how the numberplate holder actually fixes on though, so can't comment on that Edited January 19, 2012 by InsolentMinx
Bumblebee
another idea instead of drilling would be to heat a flat blade screwdriver up and melt it into the plastic then unscrew it with a cool screwdriver
