  4. On ebay...start Thurs, about half 8, end Sunday, about half 8.
  5. Hi. How much are these celica hyper sports mats worth. Good condition, tiny area of fray on one, at the edge.
  6. Yeah. When a car is imported from Japan, the owner fills out form to register it. Form includes space for year of manufacture. That form is backed up by the English Translated Deregistration Certificate from Japan. The form SHOULD say the same year of manufacture as noted on the Dereg Cert. Some folks make a mistake, some folks blag it, some folks are just thick at filling in forms, sometimes the dvla make the mistake. Various reasons for year of manufacture being different from year of registration. I imported a 1990 Delica, filled out forms correctly, came back an X reg (year 2000). Can only assume the operator saw the zero at the end and gave it a 2000 registration. Queried the X reg at the desk when I collected the docs and tax disc. Got told it's done now and nothing can be done about it. Actually, you CAN have it changed but it is a more hassle and paperwork. There are some folks that de-register their Private Conveyances altogether, but that's a whole different kettle of herring altogether.
  7. Had the conversion done on a Pajero a few years ago. Mobile aircon guy did it. Cost me, iirc, about £90 and took about two hours. Basically they empty the system, test for leaks, chuck in some kind of protective oil substance and fill it with new gas. Worked fine. New gas in old system is apparently ok, it'll work, but without the proper conversion and sealing with oil, it can degrade the seals in the system,so I was told and researched.
  8. No mate, downloading maps and programming cars is way above my pay grade. Car was running rough, took it to The Garage in Wishaw ( recognised experts in their field ) who diagnosed faulty MAF. Got them one, they got it fitted and mapped the car. They then called me laughing - "that little car's a total hoot to drive". It was, upgraded everything. Best about it was it went through auction and no-one but me knew what it was - a well modded MX5 Eunos roadster. By 'eck I made some dosh on that one.
  9. I had one in a turbo Eunos roadster. Got it mapped and car was very lovely.
  10. Strange that we don't know if there is a legal dB limit. When I used to go to rallies, scrutineering guys measured every car. Some stages are on roads, so I have always thought that the rally cars had to comply with some noise law. If what the cop said were true, rally cars couldn't have stages on roads.
  11. Carrick for me as well. Apart from that last time. Still to take them back.
  12. Have to say, after folks mentioning the service book... I have bought and sold a lot of ncars in the last ten years and there aren't many folks that I have come across walk away because the service history isn't there. Having said that there are probably a few that would have liked to have known the service was done. For me, proof of purchase is enough for that. Full service history and "stamped up book" tends to mean less than it once did.
  13. I go there at Christmas, sometimes get a t shirt, sometimes a diary. Only go there for parts. Sometimes they are cheaper than aftermarket. Or the difference in price between genuine and pattern is small.
  14. Ok, I am gonna disagree with the Gunk thjing. It does the job, but stinks. Stays stinky for days. Traffic film remover (TFR) does the job as good with next to no smell. If you have a lot of grime, spray on degreaser, plenty out there and cheap.
  15. Happy Anniversary johndps!

  16. Here was me ready to leave the celica club and a decent thread comes up that gets me chuckling. Thanks guys.
  17. Too late now, but for anyone looking, there is a corporate member on here does plates... Turboplates.
  18. Once had to replace ignitor? excitor? Whatever it is called. Wee box at back right of engine bay, on the bulkhead. One day fine, next day no go, replaced that box, fine again.
  19. Carrick Alloy Refurb, was called Carrick Engineering, Prestwick, Scotland. Dunno prices to public cos I am trade customer. Imagine no more than 50 per wheel. They remove wheel from car, remove tyre, caps, weights etc. They then straighten the wheel, make it round again, remove dents, prep the wheel then powder coat it. They the put the caps and tyre back on and balance the thing. They then put it back on the car. Lot of work for 50 quids. I don't know of anyone in the Glasgow, Lanarkshire or Ayrshire area that can straighten and make the wheel round again. Except Carrick.
  20. I thought gen 5 came with 14" wheels, gen 6 with 15" ?
  21. I have had loadsa dents pulled by these type of guys. Small dents are left looking invisible. Larger dents CAN be harder, but not always. Had a Seat with an eight inch dent in it, maybe dented in an inch, on the wing. Guy comes out, says it's not creased and proceeded to hammer away. Was ALMOST invisible when he left . Amazing result.
  22. Clean windows helps enormously. I use panel wipe then scrub with soapy water. After that big wash, just periodiacally wipe over with glass cleaner and clean cloth, glass cleaner used VERY sparingly.
  23. How many folks bought the SS1 3sfe gen 6 thinking 2-litre 170bhp 3sge? Plenty have made THAT mistake.
  24. Dunno about the lower thing, but the top looks like plastic tamperproof screws for a number plate. If it's plastic, drill it.
