  1. Think the best protection would be tyres with built in rim protection and stay away from the kerbs!
  2. Looking at the price and picture of the ECP one it's for a 140 so wont fit a 190, similar make for the 190 is expensive with genuine Toyota ones seriously expensive.
  3. Must be from ECP they always seem to send the biggest box full of packing for the smallest items!
  4. My Son hit a Pigeon in his C2 a few years ago completely smashed the front grill and radiator, expensive road kill.
  5. Your right always feel lucky to live in "Gods Country" (arguments start), prefer Whitby to Saltburn for F&Cs but either will do depends on how much free time there is, can usually make a trip to Whitby last about 3 hours if I take the convoluted route via back roads to Northallerton, Thirsk, Helmsley, Pickering, Ruswarp then into Whitby with a stop in Helmsley for a coffee and chat and Fish and chips in Whitby or if it's early morning then hot chocolate and bacon sandwich on the pier, best way I have found to unwind and put a 100 plus miles on the car or bike.
  6. Never had a problem just going for a drive have done since I first started driving, aimlessly driving about usually around North Yorkshire countryside either in the car on more often in the Summer on my Motorbike.
  7. I think putting vinyl on a rough surface will still show through the vinyl, best option would be to remove it sand it back flat and repaint it or if you want to fit vinyl flat it back with emery paper until smooth although if your not repainting it make sure there is some paint left on or it will rust, if its a metal sunroof. You could always keep an eye on the breakers for a decent replacement sunroof in the same colour.
  8. Not sure if the Celica has one but might be worth checking the crankcase breather pipe my last cars was blocked and the waste couldn't get to the charcoal canister in the emissions system so made the car smell of old hot oil.
  9. As has probably already been mentioned this isn't really a fair or direct comparison, one car designed late 90s the other mid 2000s, one rear wheel drive the other front wheel drive. I am not a total Celica fanatic indeed only got mine really as a stop-gap as I couldn't find something I really wanted or fit my requirements, having said that I am happy with my choice. I thought about a GT86 before getting my car and love the looks and the way it drives (having had RWD cars for the last 15 years) but it was never really in my list to buy simply because I wanted something cheap to buy in the £4-8K range and the GT86 was over £23K and still is with second hand ones going for £15K+ so never really an option. If you want to compare the Celica to something then shouldn't it be a car of similar style and type from roughly the same era costing about the same, it's one thing to note the changes and advances time has brought about (or not) in car design but a little unrealistic to try and directly compare the two, no doubt if Toyota had kept on making the Celica it would have moved on although I doubt it would have gone rear wheel drive but who knows.
  10. I think it is just a way of limiting access to his facebook group, you could always phone but I think response is pretty good from a PM in facebook.
  11. Try Darren Harding on Locking Vinyl I'm sure a few people have had wheel centers and steering wheel badges done by him, think I even saw a TS one which looked lovely and not expensive. Link to his facebook page think you need to ask for an invite to the group but takes no time https://www.facebook.com/groups/LockingVynil/
  12. Good News! Mine was the same drove it in and an hour later picked it up with a new MOT, much to the annoyance of my Son who had his car done the following day to find he needed new rear discs, handbrake cable, Lambda sensor and front number plate. Think its the difference between regular maintenance and care and just driving it with neither of the other two.
  13. Apologies my mistake should have remembered from when I did mine last year I must have got mixed up with my previous cars which all had the discs held by two countersunk bolts and the hubs had threaded holes to fix them to, even my Son's S2000 had them and the Celica must have been the first I changed that didn't have any retaining bolts. Could have sworn my TSport had them when I did them last year but cant really check easily as I have spacers bolted to the hubs. So sorry for the confusion.
  14. The two small ones are for holding the disc to the hub the larger threaded hole near the wheel stud is what you use to remove the disc if stuck usually a 10mm threaded hole, the countersunk bolts go in the two small holes and into two threaded holes in the hub
  15. Had a litre of Dipetane delivered Saturday more to try and clean the carbs on my motorbike, ran a fair bit through with the tank off and connected directly to the fuel pump but still runs rough so looks like a full carb removal and disassembly to clean them properly, still have most of it left so will try it in the car and see if there's any benefit.
  16. Not sure if they are the ones but M6 sounds right and they are normally only short, good idea to use hex head ones as the normal cross head type normally rounds off. The two bolts are not to stop disc movement when in use that is done by the wheel bolts but they do help to pull the disc up square onto the hub and hold it there while you fit the wheels, also check the hub face is clean and smooth before fitting the discs as any rust etc. will cause them not to sit flush
  17. In the video you have not put the two countersunk bolts back into the disc to secure them to the hub if these go in then the disc wont move and then the wheel nuts should hold them in place with the wheels on. In the pictures its the two small holes at around 11 and 5 o'clock.
  18. My head unit connects to any Bluetooth device in the car no problem once it is switched on, I only use Bluetooth for phone connection not music as I leave my ipod in the top compartment connected to the rear USB. Multiple phones connect easily even copying address books to the head unit which is a Clarion 500 series.
  19. If I understand correctly, your car was MOT'd when you had the accident then subsequently it ran out while the car was off the road. If this is correct then I would seriously consider going through the insurance company, as mentioned previously you will not know what damage has been done to your car until it is stripped for repair the bodywork behind the bumper could be damaged and could result in a "write off" plus if you think there may be personal injury then you need to contact the insurance and report it then go to the doctors for a check up and confirmation of any issues.
  20. I always use the really cheap tyre cleaner/shine usually found in Pound land or B&Ms for less than £1, works great on the under bonnet plastics sprayed on then use a brush to get into the awkward areas, wipe off with a cloth, nice and clean, not shiny and doesn't collect dust.
  21. Same as above brake stopper from the group buy arrived
  22. If you literally want to stand out (especially at night) use a highlighter pen lots of colour choice and very bright! On another note I have used black magic markers to cover up scuffs on a black car bumper, works well for a few months then just redo it.
  23. Maybe as Alcantara is a man made material rather than natural leather it has less tendency to stretch whereas leather does stretch and give, think of leather shoes compared to manmade substitute material ones, which end up conforming to your feet the best? I personally like the ease of cleaning and hard wearing nature of leather, thinking of my last car 21 years old and the leather seats were as good as the day they were made, I think the issue with the Celica leather ones sagging is probably down to the quality of materials used for the covering and the cushion. I can't imagine Toyota using best quality hide on a mass produced coupe, mine still look fine with 60k miles but bet they would look worn at double that, when they do I will get them re-covered.
  24. I've seen and experienced what it takes to clean Alcantara and I would agree give me easy clean leather any day, but that's just my "form over function" coming to the top. Do agree though the Alcantara GT seats look the part.
  25. I remember using Kiwi Scuff Kote (black) on my last car when the bolster got scratched by a buckle covered the scratch and lasted until it got sold years later, so cant see why this wouldn't work could be a little like doing a 10,000 word puzzle though if you do the whole car.
