  1. dont mess with peoples cars, thats all i can say. one day they will mess with the wrong car and if they get caught well....
  2. a lot of blaggers out there. got to keep your eyes on them. i think i know who your on about that was claiming 270bhp na on the 190 engine on facebook. no dyno printout to prove it.
  3. Someone on this forum used a lawn sprinkler under the car.
  4. What i dont like about most bodyshops is that when they weld things up they don't cavity wax the back sides of the weld and dont use proper zinc based paint to stop it from rusting again. They all treat it like your going to sell it on after the works done. Hence why iv started doing it myself.
  5. I get people spending 600 quid for undersealing a Bentley or ferrari. But on a car that costs less than a grand a lot of people need to justify the cost. Majority of these old cars are just one big bill away from the scrapyard.
  6. cavity wax is easy enough to apply with the aerosols and extension wands. waxoyl as mentioned above doesnt really harden and can come off over time. stonechip e.g upol gravitex works well for the underside.
  7. took photo of how the metal valve looks on the car. no more dry rotting rubber valves any more.
  8. so after being on holiday and coming back to drive the celica after a month of it being sitting around i thought i be good to check the tyre pressures. the rear driver side tyre valve was ripped badly and leaking air. so having replaced the front valves when i did my new front tyres i used the 2 remaining valves today and got them fitted on the back wheels so now all 4 wheels use the metal tyre valves: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TYRE-VALVE-BOLT-IN-STEM-TO-FIT-BBS-FOX-ALLOYS-WHEELS-CHROME-SILVER-METAL-CAR-VAN/222405171083 link above is the the valves, iv had 2 on the front for well over a year and no issues. no more crappy rubber valves failing on me any more. the valves i linked to are the exact ones i bought and they fit my 17 inch standard toyota rims. should fit all standard toyota rims too. just checked my emails, valves on the front 2 tyres were fitting in august 2017 so they been on for over 2 years and no issues.
  9. Battery i dont have to worry about again since i use a solar panel on parcel shelf. Works wonders. Im looking to get a 2nd set of wheels so i can get winter tyres on them. Will also allow me to play with some diy wheel refurbing kits.
  10. I use mine all round. Just got to remember to pay the extra 50p at car wash for the undercarriage option. Someone on the forum recommended to use a lawn sprinkler under the car. Thats a damn good idea.
  11. I got hankook winter tyres for wifes aygo. Big mistake since we don't get enough snow to warrant the use. Next time i will use all season tyres that get a high snow rating in reviews for winter use. Makes more sense. Looking to get winters for the celica but need a set of cheapo rims first. Should i get 16 inch rims for winter use or 17 like i already have? Are tyres cheaper for 16s?
  12. Hmm. Gas suspension that drops to 1cm off the ground when parked? Is that possible for a prius?
  13. excellent, will have a look at that and give it a go.
  14. Dont do what i did and use a year old half used lacquer can. Made it look worse. Got a quote for bonnet respray from one guy and was quoted 300 quid. Thats a rip off. Better off getting a carbon bonnet.
  15. My cousin had a V reg honda accord 1.8 petrol. They stole that cat too from the driveway too. My bro scrapped a honda accord of a similar year and engine too. They checked the cat on the car saw it was original then gave him 430 quid for scrap value. Insane.
  16. Which car you got? I got gen7 and mines not got a shield.
  17. Possible to make it less nickable? Spray paint it red and yellow?
  18. iv heard a lot of these thefts going on, local britannia tyres and exhausts place done 5 replacements today, 4 Jazz's and a prius. looks like a lot of jap cars especially prius are being targetted. wondering is the celica is also on the hit list? if so what to do to protect the cat? wondering if its safer to do a decat now and put the cat back on for mot time?
  19. Common sense on this one. Do a pre check on your car. Wipers washer fluid all lights etc brake pads and most of all tyres. The amount of fools iv seen go for mot with bald tyres with cords coming out is mad. If the basics are in check then less chance of getting a dangerous flag.
  20. No not redex. After reading up and watching some youtube vids it looks like adding 2 stroke oil to the petrol tank is very common for mazda rotary users like rx7 rx8 etc.
  21. So met a guy who tracks his lotus elise, has a 2zzge engine in it. I asked if he uses high octane and he said he uses vpower and adds 2 stroke oil to it think he said 60:1 ratio. I was confused but just nodded and carried on talking about handling and weight. Now im back home and wondering why is the plonker putting 2 stroke oil into a 4 stroke engines petrol tank? I have a feeling it might not do any harm since engines burn oil all the time but only time i see people do that is with lawn mowers and chainsaws. Any ideas?
  22. I got 2 lacquer peal spots in the front of the bonnet. Start of the year i sorted one spot by scraping off loose lacquer then applying more with a spray can. 7 months later another spot appeared so i repeated the process. Big mistake was i used the same lacquer can and its gone yellowish and looks shit. I dont want to spend on a respray so looking at a carbon bonnet or wrap or worse comes to worse.... A bonnet bra. Will get some pics up hopefully i can salvage it and get the yellow lacquer off and use new stuff.
  23. that may be a possibility, the garage i used allowed me ramp time since they had only 2 cars in for restoration and one old volvo for headgasket job, now hes got an old porsche to restore i wont be able to get ramp time in. obviously i had to provide the food for everyone. the garage is based in southam which is near stratford upon avon and im sure he will take more work on once a ramp is free again. google maps: https://www.google.com/maps/@52.2903822,-1.3937616,3a,60y,269.65h,82.13t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sRSkPM11GknONcDBUh2WHBg!2e0!7i16384!8i8192 i did a basic job but my cousin wasnt impressed. if he was doing it he said he would have removed the exhaust and all heat shields and sprayed under everything.
  24. The wax does the insides of the sill. Taking the skirts off allows you to do the outside of the sill. I havent waxed the passenger side yet. Today i done the entire bottom wnd again using the compressor sprayer and upol gravitex. Took the arch liners off too and even sorted out the fuel filler pipe. Will get photos up on the other thread later today or tomorrow.
