  1. Going to be interesting what people say about this. I'm guessing it works but not quite as well or as good value for money as they claim. My concern would be the shock to an old engine from such an aggressive clean.
  2. I'm pretty sure I saw that outside Rob (Likwidart)'s place when I was there 18 months ago.
  3. Keep your OEM Toyota mats for shows and buy some hard wearing cheapo ones from EBay and change them whenever you need to.
  4. As a middle aged bald man driving an often filthy but well looked after gen 5, I'm not sure I fully appreciate this comment. You forgot to add fat, by the way: as in middle aged, fat, bald men etc.
  5. Pretty fair write up really. Makes good sense of a decision to buy a nearly classic car.
  6. Carcept rear roof spoiler for my gen 5. Still in the bubble wrap, which is why it looks a bit of an odd shape. No fitting instructions included, so it's down to guess work.
  7. It seems to the mark of a true JDM afficianado amongst gen 5 owners!
  8. Being car daft, I probably would pay that much for one that wasn't broken - but cracked and still £150 is verging on ridiculous.
  9. Yee Gods! Damaged, with a crack in the clear plastic, and still asking £150! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Toyota-Sera-CLEAN-ACE-SYSTEM-Factory-Optional-Starlet-JDM-Japan-/191474021810?&_trksid=p2056016.l4276 I've been looking for one of these for ages, but there's no way I'm paying that much for damaged goods. Sorry if it's someone on here doing the selling!
  10. Happy 2 Anniversary Askari!

  11. Well, you know who to come to if it ever gets too much and you need to sell!
  12. Lucky bugger. I've been trying to find a TRDbfiller cap for ages.
  13. Thanks for re-posting this Carla. I know you've pointed me to your thread before. It's not that I don't understand what to do, I am just not dexterous enough to do it!
  14. Thanks _chris_ I will have a search of Carla's thread and find the notes she wrote and then we can discuss. IT will orobably take me a few days, what with Cheistmas etc. and I'm not rushing, so I will drop you a PM as soon as I can.
  15. Thanks. I have had about six so far and not found one on which everything works, but fingers crossed. Yes, I have seen the write up on Carla's thread but I have to admit that I am incapable of following it or of making my big, thick hands do the delicate manoeuvring that it requires.I see that _chris_ is a corporate member, I'll drop him a PM but it would be useful to know what his line of business is?
  16. I am still looking for someone who can refurbish and repair a heater controller for me. I've got about four of the dammed things - but not one one on which all the buttons and lights work and the symbols and arrows all glow as they should. And the light intensity controller needs to work as well. I'm not looking for charity, I'm quite happy to pay for someone to take two or three of the part-working items I've got and make one good one for me, but I need some suggestions as to who might be able to do it. Any ideas? And please don't suggest I try it myself. From being a total no hoper when I brought this car, I can now change bulbs and oil, check for leaks and do something about them, remove seats and do all sorts of things that I would never have done before - but micro electrics are totally beyond my skill and patience levels.
  17. I wish I had a couple of grand spare at the moment.
  18. Ooh sorry, I didn't realise it was in the gen 7 forum when I posted.
  19. I've got a steering wheel, door card inserts, arm rest, gear knob and gaiter, and sun visors with Mondo waiting for re-trimming - so they should go on for Christmas; I'm considering a re-spray and I'm still very tempted by a gearbox overhaul - mainly because pretty much everything except the gearbox has either been replaced or fully serviced over the past twelve months. Then next year, it's time to re-trim the seats in leather as well. The only problem is cash flow, of course. With Christmas and a trip to South Africa planned in the new year, I'm just going to have to pace myself.
  20. What's that then MI5, Mi6, GCHQ or something even more secret? Security Officer? Regular trips to North Korea? Occasional business meetings in the Middle East. Slight bulge under armpit of jacket? Lots of gadgets?
  21. Interesting thread. I'm 47. I work in local government at a senior level. My professional background is in environment, conservation and planning, so I am an unlikely petrolhead. No real interest in cars until I clicked on my gen 5 on EBay because it reminded me of being younger. Although I had actually been at work for two years when my car first hit the road in 1993. I have a total lack of mechanical skills, although I am gradually doing more work on the car myself. I am highly organised at home and work and one of the reasons I like the CELICA is that it is one of the few things in my life that is a bit quirky, different, a bit unpredictable.
  22. I think the thing about the CELICA being a bit rough round the edges is part of the attraction for me. it definitely gives it more character and makes it more rewarding. It doesn't actually matter that it's not the smoothest/fastest/most powerful car on the road, it's different to practically everything on the road.
