  1. The synchro ring has gone on that gear cluster that is attached to the selector as well as the obvious damage to the gears...make sure you replace stuff whilst it's out...cheaper in the long run!
  2. That's EXACTLY what I was told when my wife got in mine!! I'm SO glad she has zero interest in the car!
  3. How people can think that is a fun thing to do is beyond me!
  4. Take a note of the name on the bonnet........TOYOTA...................fairly big letters. So why do I get asked constantly.........."Is it a Mustang mate?!!".....................
  5. This is bad! My Intake noise would fail the loudness test never mind my exhaust!!
  6. It's very noticeable in my car. I don't have an ECU or anything to compensate ignition timing so I can feel the difference as soon as I put cheaper fuel in. It's just got "less of everything"....I suppose modern cars can compensate and blur the edges but mine can't. I use Shell V power whenever I can but I don't worry if I have to use other stuff.
  7. When you take everything out make sure the regulator and window slides are all in good order as that will put a load on the motor if any of it is crooked or seized.
  8. Happy Anniversary BrianGT!

  9. I think using a rod has too small an area to get it totally mixed. Use a spatula type tool and really pound the filler and hardner until it looks a totally solid colour. I think we all tend to just give it a quick mix!
  10. This is getting serious now........db levels on the V5! We as motorists are such an easy criminal element to persecute......I'm all for the Police but it does make even me cynical these days.
  11. Fabulous pics mate! Some really nice cars in there! I really like the first black and white pic.........the buildings look from the 50's and that Celica adds a bit of a futuristic pose.
  12. Seems like they really do have a bee in their bonnet over exhausts on anything remotely sporty looking........hope the Norfolk disease doesn't spread to any other county!
  13. I get it all the time! It amazes me how many people want to take a pic of the car when I'm at traffic lights....thank heavens for mobile phones!
  14. Great post! Based on fact and not interweb myth.
  15. My car is polybushed and also has rose jointed castor arms. It's quite important with polybushes to lube them at least once a year with fresh asembly grease. The std rubber bushes on TA22 rear links are quite hard already. The rubber is bonded to the eye of the link rods and pivots around the mounting bolt but that seizes over time so really all that is happening is that the movement is limited to the amount of twist or give in the rubber. Polybushes don't attach to the eye and so can swivel in the eye and on the bolt so providing they are kept lubricated they actually give a decent ride. Having said that I'm putting on Group 4 Escort rose jointed links once I can afford them!
  16. Awesome!! Maybe you technically were guilty but all that matters is that you got off! No fine and No points! Well done for seeing it through Mr. Wimpole.........
  17. Good luck mate! Keep calm and try and come across as quietly confident and that standing in a court room isn't bothering you.....you merely want to express the facts.
  18. I really think your car is all the advert you need to buy a Gen 4.......what a stunner!
  19. Cos it has BIG eff off carbs breathing IN.............and a BIG eff off exhaust farting out!!
  20. I do understand your dilemna mate, but as an aside, I seem to be covering serious mileage in a Gen 1 that makes me think that a Gen 4 is the New Kid on the block!
