  1. i went for the tops of the rear lights, and the top of the 3rd brake light... just to break up the amount of red plastic. there's no storm blue vinyl colourmatch though, so a dark tint did the job perfectly. and crappy phone pics...
  2. I think 2 sets of hands would definitely make it easier... at least when i was doing mine, because the bits were so small (i didn't do the headlight overlays), they would blow about a bit from the hairdryer... so when it was warming up a 3rd or 4th hand to hold the vinyl in place would have been ideal.
  3. is this the BlueBat stuff? I used a dab of fairy liquid in water. if you've got a spray bottle, it'll help with application.
  4. Happy Anniversary InsolentMinx!

  5. well it's not actual 'trd', but it doesn't look too shabby.
  6. weird.... found these pics online... it could look 'interesting' if not a bit tacky
  7. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BLACK-BEE-STING-AERIAL-WITH-INTERCHANGEABLE-COLOURED-TIP-UNIVERSAL-FITTING-/150882579814?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item23214d7566 and then i just used some garden secateurs (sp?) ...the things gardeners use to cut plant branches. I'm sure the cutter part of a decent set of pliers would do the same job. Maybe even a stanley knife; as the cut doesn't have to be too clean, as it's being hidden by the tip. i still get great reception too, although not sure how affected it would be if you chopped it any shorter. here's how it looks on the car as a whole: definitely better than the long original one.
  8. I just bought a £2 one off ebay and super glued the 'beesting' tip onto the stock aerial which I chopped down to my desired size. simple, looks OEM, and the base isn't a mismached width. you can of course cut yours shorter...
  9. only the lock needs to be removed and swapped over. you'll need the window up, and to reach up into the door through the openings. a torch will help, and you need to undo a 10mm nut or two, and unclip a yellow plastic clip. it'll be pretty obvious when looking at it from the inside. then repeat the procedure to put the lock in the new door. some say you can take the door off leaving the wing on the car, but i took the wing off when doing mine..... which was a lot more longwinded and involved removing the front bumper too. took 4-5 hours doing it on my own. needed a 2nd pair of hands to hold the door when I was bolting it to the car
  10. to be fair, you should always look before stepping into the road. Basic stuff.
  11. so you drove past them and they pulled you because they thought your exhaust 'looked' noisy? They obviously didn't hear it being noisy! WTF?
  12. for comedy value I'm interested to hear what "range of tuning options available for this car" they have... and what on earth the "very significant new products about to be launched" are.
  13. well what kind of mods are you thinking of? and what major internet sites are you looking at? not got a clue of what he's talking about. Why not reply and ask him? ...
  14. interesting. i put excess sat nav cable and the cigarette lighter in mine when I've got the Satnav plugged in... otherwise it just sits there empty. What's with the big Star-Trek logo on your cubbyhole door??
  15. improved torque and performance, with reduced emissions and a saving on fuel too?! sounds a little tooo good to be true
  16. i know there was a group buy, and i mentioned it, but evidently no-one bought them... so no discount
  17. *grumble* no longer than 30 mins after I open the thing and put it on the car, Katie tells me to take it off as she wants to go to the gym! i think you need an area the size of a football pitch to fold it up though, just bundled in the boot it takes up all the space!
  18. After spending 2 hours just pressurewashing treesap and muck off my car, I decided I needed to get a decent cover. I've used care4car before to buy Rain-X (which I'm still not 100% sure about), and a cargonet to keep loose items secure in the boot. http://www.care4car.com/productdisplay/productid/198/Waterproof_and_Lined_Full_Car_Cover.html At £48 it's a bit steep, but it's supposed to be waterproof and has a soft lining to protect the car. It's also got a nifty carry-case and also turns out to have a slip case you can put it in too. The outer material feels quite tough, and the inside is a weird soft material that looks like a thin layer of felt. There's elastic at the front and back to help it cling under your bumpers. Sadly due to having a lower front and rear bumper it doesn't quite hang down perfectly, but it's still very good for the length. I've got the Large one, any bigger would be too big I think... but then you might need the extra length if you've got a big spoiler... There's mirror pockets and also a nifty zip opening so that you can still get to the driver's door. 1 reinforced eye on each side (at ground level underneath the rear quarter windows) can be used to tie the cover to a wheel to stop it blowing off... or i guess you could thread some string under the car... but that might be a bit too much hassle. I can't comment on it's ability to fend off the weather as it's currently dry and sunny, but it looks good so far.
  19. welcome back! I don't think I saw any Celicas when I was out there last August. Cars are in a right state though, lots of broken stuff and tatty paint.
  20. free bacon butties, tea/coffee AND a beer after?! That's a fantastic offer! If i was free and in the Yorkshire area I'd jump at the chance To be honest, the bumper and headlights are an easy one man job, but i'm not sure about the foglights. a spare set of hands certainly never hurts!
  21. i routed my aux cable into my 140's centre cubby hole. there's actually 2 holes in the top corners of the back of the cubby hole already, one in left, one in right, so depending on which side you want to feed the cable in from, you might just need to widen that hole a little. a cable tie on the wire will then stop the cable falling back into the inside of the dashboard, or one on the back to stop it being pulled out too far.... or one of each
