scorps1212
Hey guys. Very wierd thread but gunna ask it anyway just to be safe. As some of you know my clutch has started slipping. It only does it in 1ST and 2nd So far and doesn't do it all the time. Im very cautious when im driving now cause probably won't be able to get it fixed for a couple of months. Not good i know. Money's really tight at the mo. How should i be driving the car? Change gear at low revs each time? Change gear at higher revs? At the moment im changing gear between 3000 for 4000. Sticking it in neutral and taking foot off the clutch when stopped at lights or roundabout.

Bumblebee
problem is that if you leave it too long long it will be worn down to the rivets on the friction plate which will score the flywheel then you will need to have that machined too
c_jnz
You will be lucky if it lasts a few months mate.
scorps1212
Shit. Im hoping it'll last at least a couple of months. Just need to pay for the church and then can get my new clutch. Or if it goes before the church is paid for then it's gunna have to get done then. I don't want it to Fuck the flywheel up too.

c_jnz
When the clutch went on my GT I went to a clutch/gearbox specialist and they supplied and fitted for around £250 I think it was. Although mine started slipping on a Sunday night and was un-drivable by the following weekend.

_Chris_
Keep throttle light and go down gears rather than increasing throttle to go up hills. High RPM is no problem as long as throttle is light so clutch doesn't slip. Pull away at low RPM / light throttle and don't give it any more throttle until clutch fully engaged. From my experience of modern cars (in relative terms) the clutch tends to wear more on the pressure plate side and rarely go to rivets on the flywheel side even when slipping badly. Nurse Amy
Same when mine went. Easy on the throttle and you're fine, just drive like an old man and you should be alright
scorps1212
Nice one. Cheers guys. Been driving her really carefully. Think its the first time I've concentrated while driving. Usually i just get in and drive. Don't like it. Lol. Oh and sometimes when i go to pull away, the whole car vibrates and shakes. Is this cause of the clutch? scorps1212
Ok. Thats a good thing. At least that'll go away when the clutch gets done. If it wasn't cause of the clutch, that'd be something else wrong with the car. Is it gunna feel like a different car once i get the clutch done? Mr Rizla
sometimes when i go to pull away, the whole car vibrates and shakes. Is this cause of the clutch? I had this with my ST, trick was to let clutch out a bit slower, when i 1st got her i was sure there was a problem with the engine mounts or somit, then Arizona got in and drove and it was perfect, just pretend your on your driving test and it may get better, good luck on the repair.
