wheel refurb

Recommended Posts

It would be Great if we could get a good few prices from up & down the Country maybe several quotes per County

(would have to be like for like of course ) because it of course adds a lot onto the price with a courier both ways, so not cost effective

We could have a list like we the one we have for insurance Companies on CCUK

 whats your thoughts

I'm completely new to wheel refurb so I'm not sure if this is a good or competitive price. Gotta be cheaper than a brand new set of alloys though!

C.A.S coatings in Bradford charge £1 per " inluding sandblasting, not sure if they post though.

15" = £15 plus VAT per wheel.

seems very good , your talking 20 quid a wheel for a 17`` , bradford being a bazillion miles away means its postal only unless i get a collection together

WRC, Lesley.

why would it be a special job? maybe a stupid question but if going for one solid colour. there would be no turning involved so no use for a cnc lathe. would just be a matter of media blasting them and powder coating or painting?

andy

Andy,

If you just want to go for a block colour then fine enough it's an 'easy' job to shot blast and powder coat but if you want polished lips or the very fine ridge detail that might be on a wheel then you do need to have these re-cut into the wheel again after they's had the base powdercoat done.

An example would be IS200 wheels - as standard the faces of them are diamond cut (looks like the fine ridge details on a vinyl record).

It all depends on what you want the wheels to look like as a re-finished product.

WRC do a cracking job so whatever you actually need doing so give them a call and get a price. There's details of their work on their sites (www.wheelrepair.com) and thier Favebook page.

thanks for the help so far people. all info will be past on.

tctech if you could find out that would be good. also it would be a post job up to him could you ask him if this would be ok?

thanks all and if there is any more info any one has let me know

They look to be cookie cutters - porsche wheels. if they are genuine then doing them in one colour ruin them! he would run thie risk of getting stoned to death by the porsche owners club LOL. If they are genuine, then really they should be done in black, then the outer section Diamond Cut. It's not a cheap job, but is worth it. If he's just planning to use the wheels himself and not sell the car or wheels it won't matter I guess, until he does want to sell.

That is pretty much £100 per wheel, you could buy some nice new wheels for just over £100 per wheel, the quote i got was £30 per wheel, but i just dropped of the wheels with no tyres on

Izzy - theres a very good place in Birmingham which does it for £120 but you have to take just the alloys. They can't put tyres back on or off.

that sounds ok until locally you get charged a tenner a wheel to remove and refit so theres 40 quid on the price , for the ballache may as well give it to the pros at 50 quid a wheel knowing it will come back mint and if they mark them putting the rubber back on they will repair it rather than shrug

Yeah, it's better if you need new rubber anyway. I got my Chronos done there, they didn't have any rubber anyway so it worked out fine! When I took them to get tyres fitted I watched them like a hawk. Fortunately the guy doing it had a nice Golf so understood. B)

Carrick Alloy Refurb, was called Carrick Engineering, Prestwick, Scotland.

Dunno prices to public cos I am trade customer.

Imagine no more than 50 per wheel.

They remove wheel from car, remove tyre, caps, weights etc.

They then straighten the wheel, make it round again, remove dents, prep the wheel then powder coat it.

They the put the caps and tyre back on and balance the thing.

They then put it back on the car.

Lot of work for 50 quids.

I don't know of anyone in the Glasgow, Lanarkshire or Ayrshire area that can straighten and make the wheel round again.

Except Carrick.
