  1. Not my car, but a very nice original Celica found at car show I stumbled upon in Germany's black forest region.
  2. I’ve a little update on its way with this thing. 8 years ownership this year and 10 years of having a Gen 7
  3. Not an exciting pic, but still going after a little while away the forum well over 130k now.
  4. Digging up an old post, and I’ve not been here for a while myself, but I have pretty much the same issue as described above. I could hear the rubber flapping against the ARB when rolling. I’ve trimmed it off to stop the noise, but does anyone know what the rubbers actual function is? It just seems like plain metal underneath it. I think the only fix would be a new driveshaft, which is tempting anyway, just not sure crucial it actually is. Can anyone advise?
  5. Very nice! Your 6 has so many well executed mods on it, great overall car!
  6. Happy 4 Anniversary rich_p!

  7. Haha, fair do's mate. Good luck to the rest!
  8. ^ Totally understand that. I did always think that challenges were made to encourage people to get out in their cars. I'll keep the entry, for Dean's discretion. I'm currently near the New Forest district and it's all a bit flat!
  9. So, I'm unsure of the exact rules here, but today I remembered an old photo of my first Celica with a small waterfall behind it!
  10. I think Gerraint had managed to do it in his Celica's before he upgraded to an after market unit. The Connects2 brand springs to mind.
  11. Proof that a car doesn't necessarily lose power with age, just as long as it's kept well serviced. Haha, I know it's not about torque at all with these engines, but it does put it into perspective when you the figures.
  12. Good result all in, probably pretty close to what it had from factory. I assume it's been kept well serviced in order to keep it that way? Seeing torques measured in Ft-lb really highlights how feeble the 2zz-ge is, 140 ft-lb is just about enough for a 3/4" diameter bolt!
  13. I never even spotted that! yeah simply took it as 5mm difference.
  14. I'd be more concerned about the. FR and FL difference than the difference between front and rear. Seem strange that they're set different across an axle. The rear arch on the other hand I think may actually be a slightly different shape than the front anyway so that could could account for the smaller measurement there. I've never had much much to do with corner weighting but I would guess the theory is to balance the car so that each wheel carries a preset amount of weight. As you say the garage often do such set ups, it could be that they've went as far as to compensate for drivers weight and that there seems to be a little more engine on that side of the bay, without really looking at ride height as a standalone. Just ask yourself if your happy with how it drives and how it looks? If either one is a no, then I'd be looking at taking it back and asking them to make the necessary adjustments, after all, for what you've paid you should be looked after by them afterwards too.
  15. One of my favourite things as an enthusiast. I've always chosen cars that make you want to drive them, anything else would just be a mode of transport. I've found Wales to have some great roads, so I don't like to miss the chance when I'm close by.
  16. I'm inclined to agree with sly on that last point the popularity of turbo'd hot hatches is good proof of it. I'm all for the GT 86 ethos, but price/performance is still a tough one to overcome when thinking of the Honda S2000, they are getting older admittedly but can be picked up for far less than any 86, with around 250hp of high revving N/a goodness, with FR drivetrain in a lightweight chassis, you can even put the roof down!
  17. If it's the same set up as as the gen 7 there is an adjustment cog which may need slackening off. http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/82010-brakes-celica-gen-7/ Other than that just give the middle face of the disc a good few shocks with a soft mallet to free things off and it should come with a bit of persuasion.
  18. As much as I love character of the 2zz it Seems rather redundant putting in an engine with less displacement torque and power. I'd say it was unlikely that a gt86 being tracked would be bone stock either so I think David's comparison is quite fair.
  19. I'd love a gt86 if I had play money afterwards, which sadly isn't happening anytime soon. http://www.litchfieldimports.co.uk/Toyota/BRZ-GT86-SPEC-S The big mod being at the bottom of that page but even the basic wheels suspension and lighting mods would need to be done too. Aero versions are nice but I find the spoiler very much overkill for a relatively low powered car, all a bit too shouty for me, the rest of its kit and wheels are a big plus though. Looking at cars currently for sale, I'm in love with the leather from the TRD and Giallo editions, but it's hard to find in the other models. It'll be interesting to see what other special editions come over the models lifespan.
  20. As Cravo says it's less noticeable in higher gears, almost not there in 6th..... I'm told Lift in 1st however is for winners! Same RPM in all gears.
  21. There's Paul Woods of Woodsport in Durham, by all accounts a massive Toyota fanatic and currently transplanting a V6 into a Gen7. http://www.celica-club.co.uk/forum/index.php?/topic/173560-gen-7-rx300-vvti-v6-conversion/ As you say the car is a T sport, is the problem anything to with Lift not kicking in as it should? There a couple of things that can be looked at without too much trouble if it is. Cheapest is cleaning the oil control valve and filter, http://www.newcelica.org/forums/showthread.php?t=250432 Early lift bolts have been known to break but are reportedly an easy change, although it is most common in prefacellift (2003) models http://www.billswebspace.com/2ZZLiftBoltReplacement.htm As Kev has asked though what sort of issues are you getting? It may in fact be more general engine trouble caused by MAF sensor, ignition system etc. Do you have any warning lights on the dash?
  22. Happy 3 Anniversary rich_p!

  23. As you say obviously excess negative camber causing inside wear. Are you lowered at all? Uneven wear could possibly indicate a buckled wheel, do you suffer vibration at speed or under braking? First thing I'd have done is a decent 4 wheel alignment, and go from there.
  24. I was thinking the same, something about the super slick, shiny glow everything has that just doesn't quite seem real. It has a copyright to s tuning group so they could be worth a Google ;-) It is a great looking celica though!
