  1. I'm happy in mine too Our midlife crisis is accompanied by a smug 'we didnt get so mugged by the ins co' I'm just not getting old, i refuse to
  2. The gen 5 gets flash and a wave from near enough all the gen sixers, especially the GT4's i see out and about and mr2's too Get them in the vert from gen 6's and also lately a couple of Jag XK drivers have given a flash and a thumbs , and (i think it was) a Masserati convertible. that gave me a grin all the way home - maybe its a vert thing Gen 7 drivers round here just look at you oddly if you flick your lights or wave and probably go home and say i wonder who that was today, must have known me
  3. I would just do what you can do get it nice and hot beforehand
  4. sounds like a right can of worms , how can you fine someone for excessive noise if there is no equipment for them to be tested other than the police oh and no doubt if you quibble it you get hit with threat of larger fine robbing gits
  5. Nope not the same as mine We gave up? Ha you gave up after getting too many wtf looks when you made suggestions on how to make it quieter I tend to make sure the foots off the gas when i'm going past mr plod though it will often give a burble and a loud rebellious pop just as it goes past
  6. They will have been buckled but not excessively if the tyre place could weight them I have had buckled wheels from hitting a hole and they looked straight , until they went on the wheel machine........ the fella said if it wasnt too bad they could use weights to offset it. But mine were too far gone so he couldnt do it When were the weights put on, and has the car been driven about since when it could of been worsened by a hole? Edited Just reread post, your mate was exactly right in what he told you - did the buyer expect new wheels?
  7. Nothing to do with date of manufacture, tis the date of first registration Be interesting to know where it spent the first few years of its life, parked in a compound i expect
  8. Re your link - Yes it'd be easier but the first time the car warmed up inside it'd all be on your head
  9. Can you do it inside and in a completely dust free environment? If not, i wouldnt even attempt it
  10. That was my thought too - unless you knowledgeable about working on these and dont mind spending a bit (lot) proceed with caution
  11. http://www.celica-club.co.uk/forum/index.php?/topic/72427-hydrogen-assisted-celica/page__hl__hydrogen__fromsearch__1 dug up an old thread, havent read it
  12. For waterproof / breathable etc i got the Halfords Deluxe (size large) one for longterm overwinter outside storing. Its proved very good. Quite pricey at around £80 iirc but worth it i think. I got a plain cotton sheet from the charity shop to throw over the car first, this stops any paintwork dulling (and protects the vert roof) Will be using the same this winter
  13. Just paint over it with smooth black hammerite, dont worry about stripping it off - just did mine, easy
  14. the 45's will also give the effect of filling the arches better and 215 gives your rims a bit more protection makes of tyres vary as to whats available but 215/45 would be my first choice , failing that 205/45 is perfectly fine tbh i doubt you'll notice much difference with the drive. EDITED - Hadnt read post properly 8's i'd missed, ignore what i said 225 or 215 i believe - but still 45's better
  15. You could run 40's on the front and 45's on the rear and then get the 40's replaced later with 45's when they need changing Difference i found is that the ride is better, smoother with 45's
  16. I've had this too, cant remember the car but last summer at the local petrol garage someone with a newer and actually quite nice looking car asked if i would swap. I laughed and she said 'no i'm serious, here's my number if you're interested'
  17. dont fancy your chances of finding today, reckon best bet is to enjoy rest of sunday best you can and wait for sh3p 's one to wing its way to you
  18. Is it flexi or rigid pipe? When i had probs with the gen 5 it was standard brake pipe, rang garage and they said all they needed to know was length i needed. Though didnt need it in the end, was able to cut, flare and fix as the split was right near to the bit it fixed to.
  19. Congrats How near to you was the mot centre? Perhaps the car needed a good blast before getting there? Mr Rizlas old ST passed the emissions fine when i took it but it failed on brakes. A few weeks later he took it to place just round the corner from his, it failed on the emissions ........
  20. Shame, is a good one Have you had a look on the meetings part of the forum? There's the 'Berkshire Meet' shouldnt be far from you?
