Al Bloke
Which colour antifreeze is best for a 1987 (gen 4) Toyota Celica? ( 3SGE) A garage recently filled mine with red, but I've since seen that this can wreck older rads, and blue would be better, even allowing for it's shorter life span
Old Red Celica
Depends what is in it. I always go for Pre Mixed Coolant direct from MrT.
Sherv
Have to say i used the Toyota premix Bryan mentions in my 87 gen4, when i had the original Rev1 engine. It was still tip top when i swapped it out for the Beams unit, still use same coolant in that
bazz54
I have no faith in the colour coding system any more. I suspect that garages might use some (claimed) "Universal" formula. As above, only use the Toyota stuff in my Gen7.
_Chris_
As above, I concluded long ago that colour means nothing and you need to check the listed chemical composition. I've seen inside engines run on the Toyota forlife (red and the correct one to use) and I've seen inside engines run on other antifreezes. I only use the genuine Toyota stuff, preferably premixed. This is available from TCB. Dealers only seem to have the conc. stuff which works out more expensive once you've bought demin./distilled water to go with it.
