digs
Hi - I have a spare fuel tank that has been under a tarp outside after I painted the outside . The inside has residue in it from old very stale petrol, plus last tiny bit in it. I want to clean it all out - any thing I should know ? Literally just a hose and car wash and allow to air dry ? Or any kind of proper procedure ? ta
CheltGirl
I know that Paulus3476 has sorted out fuel tanks before - he hopefully will see this and comment.
Xanadu
Citric acid is supposed to work well, it removes rust as well. Citric acid is a food ingredient commonly found in fizzy drinks.

slybunda
Isopropyl alcohol is used for cleaning stuff, probably wont be an issue if you dont get all the ipa out the tank too probably get +10bhp on first tank of fuel lol Edited April 26, 2023 by slybunda 1
commandosqueak
citric acid is the way to go. give it a good clean with that and it will remove rust too. just make sure you wash that out properly otherwise it will cause it to rust further.
