jim7564
taking caliper bolts off as one fell off last week causing caliper to jam against wheel and come to a standstill, have new bolts but the bottom one WILL not come out,its loose 1/4 inch gap and can wiggle it about but it will not come out, looks like its catching on the caliper rather than the hub no amount of turning hammering etc makes any diference, only solution is to cut it next to the hub,any suggestions as to gettting this fecking bolt off, cant screw it back in so pretty much stuck, worse again the new bolts wont grip the hub either which looks like new hubs will be needed now aswell,
Monkey Boy 1
Which Gen Celica do you have ? Are you talking about the bolts which connect the caliper to hangar bracket or the bolts which connect the hangar bracket to the hub ? jim7564
its the 2 bolts that go through the caliper on to the hub,gen 6 st205 gt4 i think the hub is all one piece, spent the last hour cutting through the bolt and its out now,but theres no threads left on the hub part, looking like a new recon hub,
Monkey Boy 1
I know the hub to caliper mount on an ST202 are a metric fine thread. I think they are either M12 or M10 x 1.25 and when I first removed mine they were an absolute arse to do. For me the fronts were better to remove than the rears. rich_p
If it's the same set up as as the gen 7 there is an adjustment cog which may need slackening off. http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/82010-brakes-celica-gen-7/ Other than that just give the middle face of the disc a good few shocks with a soft mallet to free things off and it should come with a bit of persuasion.
