Got to the point where i'm now able to run and insure something a bit mental car wise, but i absolutely love my gen 6, it's not the quickest thing on the road, and i do fancy a turbo to be honest!

But i don't think i could be without the 6, i've got to the point where i'm very happy with it, spent a fair amount of money on a car that's probably worth about £500 now. I've got loads of bits still to fit, i've got plans for the car in the future, like get the bodywork 100% and i've still got my heart set on a hks exhaust, after seeing and hearing a mates on a trackday i have to have one on my car!

It's been absolutely bomb proof and apart from being maybe a bit too low (my fault) it still has me wanting to drive it daily! She's on 136,000 miles now! So, do i chuck another couple of grand at her and get her to where i want, and potentially loose and awefull lot of money, or sell up now and get something a bit quicker?

oppinions?

every gen 6 owner goes through this at some point, you love the car but you want a little bit more kick

you can get a gt4 easy will skin you a bit more money than a gen 6 GT but then again you get more poke, you can also run into problems though if a previous owner hasn't been kind to it, the v6 is still an n/a engine and way more of a monster than the standard 2.0 in the gen 6, take a look at spotv6's for sale thread he is literally giving away a v6 along with ecu etc

but you want to keep your gen6 but want a turbo?

Don't like the bumper or the bonnet on the 205's, like the plain look of the 202's! Spose i could still get a gt4 or v6 lump and retain the standard look? Engine conversion sounds like a plan! B)

finally another person who prefers the sleek look of a gen 6 over the ugly fat face of the gt4 :D

Wow, thought i'd get a ribbing for not liking the gt4 face! They do look like they've been crashed into a lamp post, the bonnet looks like it's bent!

Does it hell!!

But each to their own

see thats one st205 owner marginally upset :P

the bonnet doesn't bother me its the nose, its almost as bad as the pre-face basking shark.

since im offending other gen 6 owners here the ST and the ssi are slow and pointless :sofa:

At the end of the day there are many options out there, but if your happy with the 6 and could afford to insure it with a V6 then why not or there is always a put a 3sgte in there and make yourself a GT2.

Also I wouldnt worry about loosing money whatever you do with the car market as it is you are very unlikly to get back what you pay for anything.

gt4`s an epic car but will kick you in the bollocks to run , cant knock the fun per £ factor but it will test your wallet over time

so what to do ? well being honest your not going to easily get more than a few more ponys out of a 3s-ge without serious money being spent on it , look at that throttle bodyied beastie recently , feckin brilliant on every level ( apart from colour ) , superb , wonderfull , he wants 3 grand + and he simply wont get it , this is the life of the celica im afraid , you do not get back what you put into them , you do get trouble free motoring and a bloody good looking car but you loose a few quid if you modify

so

me id aim for a beams , simply put its a normal celica with 3 grands woirth of stuff already fitted , the difference is so difference it takes time to get bored , every time i see our kid its `` it wheelspins in second easily dad `` and lovely arse clenching statements like these ( im watching you rich ..... B) ) , so to me source a beams , there out there , there bloody good fun , they look miles better than a gt4 and a normal ss-11 , 2 grand is nothing it really isnt , to me a v6 is cool but a beams is the complete package , now a beams with an ecu on it ,,, thats wheelspin in 3rd in the dry then from our kid

OK, OK so from 1 particular angle the GT4 bonet does look like a thum thats been hit by a hammer and swolen just above the nail.

But you need to be standing in the wrong place to see it like that. Come on the grilles make it look more aggressive. Its at this point that I have to admit that the main reason I got a GT 4 was because of the grilles. Yes the 4WD, 4pots and turbo is nice to have too but its realy all about the vents!

This rule also applies to the early Sierra cosworths and Escort cosworths.

As far as I'm aware, correct me if I'm wrong, that you can't fit a standard 202 bonnet to a 205 as the bulge is there for the charge cooler?

thats why you would have to loose the charge cooler ,if possible, fit a front mounted intercooler.. :)
