gen7nnb
How long has it been empty, I know if you leave it too long it can damage the compressor. The gas is like its lubricant, but they can check it for you. I'm sure someone will be along soon with a recommendation! (Sorry, I'm not in your area.) pete66
This is an easy one. You need a convertible, pop the roof and happy days. Wind blows in your hair (or not in my case). Everyone looks at you driving past, thinking look at that c**t in his open top car. you just smile at them thinking I may look like a c**t but I'm cool, how warm are you????? Probably think it means charging someone to breathe.
davetrigz
have you tried these? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350255791075&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370263916500&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
hyper-wrap
Aye was looking at those but a) they seem to make it out like it's for 'their' system only and I've no idea where the low pressure pipe thing is under the bonnet....so if someone cares to point it out for me I'd be happy
gen7nnb
Isn't it just a Schreader valve with a cap with 'L' written on it? Or am I thinking of my old Peugeot 306?
pete66
Well I know mine must be empty and possibly the seals will be perished. It's a mute point for me because the gas used for my system is now banned and I believe if I want to re gas then I would have to upgrade the whole system to accommodate the new type of gas. There was a thread on here a couple of years ago about this subject, with some tips on how to get re gas if your car isn't too old like mine. If I find it I'll post it on here. bazz54
I'd stay the hell away from both Kwik fit and DIY refils. To put gas in properly, you have to vacumm the system down first and then the exact amount you need can be put in. Scrimping is crazy; the cost of fitting a new compressor is several hundreds. Try and find a good AC specialist and make sure he puts in gas, lubricant and leak detecting dye. Really good company in Oxfordshire is BAE in Bicester;; charged me £45 (same as KF) last year and I watched him do it and he did it 100% right. £45 works out at about £10 per year! planc
I can't believe the DIY cans are legal, I have had to do a day long course and go back to the garage and train the other staff. Now I am licensed I am liable for the transportation of the bottles, any leaks that the equipment may develop, any balls up the other techs may do and monitering of the amount of gas used per remaining gas in the equipment. And the increase in my pay packet for the privilege? Fook all So when FleaBay and Halfrauds sell these bottle's it pisses me off
hyper-wrap
Kind of why I avoided it, got dangerous written all over it. Would rather someone in the know do it for me.
sbdags
Got mine done as part of the MOT at Kwik Fit last year - was about £
bazz54
Got mine done as part of the MOT at Kwik Fit last year - was about £15 If you find out what the cost of the materials alone is, charging £15 sounds (for a good job) just far too good to be plausible.
