  1. I would have thought that any blemish would show through the wrap and you just end up with the same problem in a different way.
  2. Looking forward to seeing the vert. For me it was a choice between a vert or BEAMS engine. I went with the BEAMS on the basis that there is (slightly) more chance my wife would notice an extra car on the drive.

  4. Please don't joke - I put the back support cushion in my gen 5 - it really did not look right - I chose back ache instead.
  5. If someone put the money for a new car in my pocket, I would be done the road to buy a GT86 like a shot, but that's mainly because I have a thing about Toyota. A lot of my personal firsts happened in cars with two rings on the bonnet. But for your average car buyer a genuine four seat hatch back with performance that can almost match the 86 (or better) on the straight and round the bends is always going to be attractive. Step forward the market segment that Honda own with the CIvic R and S, and Toyota have opted out of. The Auris T180, which is no longer available, was at best a 'warm' hatchback although I enjoyed driving mine. The closest Toyota came to a hot hatch was the supercharged Corolla. I'll have one of them if anyone's got a clean one.
  6. I've no idea mate, sorry, but I've always found TCB Parts to be free and helpful with their advice. Or you could ask the garage that did the MOT. Just thought, if you're driving a gem 7 then club member ams on here would be a good person to contact and he can no doubt supply whatever parts you need as well.
  7. Seeing the two together, I still prefer the Celica in the looks department.
  8. Are you planning to mount the dragon? By which I mean mount it upon your car in some manner not you physically mounting it in the carnal sense. Although if you do actually intend to physically mount it, I should think you will get a round of applause at JAE. And then you'll be arrested.
  9. What? 735 miles of mixed town and motorway driving on just over three quarters of a tank of petrol? What sort of celica are you driving?
  10. Excellent news. And from Cornwall - superb place to own a vertible.
  11. Hi Eric, good to hear you've got your gen 5 out. No doubt someone clever will be along shortly to answer your question.
  12. I think the worst thing Toyota did was pull out of the rally business in 1999 (I think).
  13. The gen 7 wheels look good, but are they not generally believed to be made of cheese?
  14. You're probably right - gen 5s need 5 spoke wheels.
  15. Digs, it's your car I saw them on and I think they look fab. Just not sure they'll look as good on a black gen 5.
  16. This is a bit of a debate for me. I've got two nice sets of the teddy bear wheels, which I genuinely do like, although I know they are not to everyone's taste. Having a set for summer and winter tires is very convenient. I fancy a bit of a change. I like the idea of something lighter. But however good they are, I don't think this three spokes are going to suit a gen 5. There are a set on EBay for £100 at the moment. I might have to succumb to the pressure from Skiny and CheltGirl and find myself a set of Momo Arrows....
  17. I've read on here a couple of times that the 3 spoke wheels from (some) St205s are really light. Does anyone know how much lighter they are than the so-called teddy bear wheels from an ST185? Are they so much lighter that it would actually make a difference in performance terms?
  18. Hi Si, When I was sending seats etc. up to Mondo I got a range of quotes from £50 to £500, but I ended up using Palletline - for them to handle stuff it has to be on a pallet but I took the view that strapping seats to a pallet was a good way to keep them intact while in transit and their price was amongst the lowest. You might want the same rigidity for sending a wing.
  19. Sounds like as good an outcome from your insurance co. as you could hope for.
  20. Well, I am also surprised that not having an mot has not adversely affected your insurance, but it just goes to show that some of the things that some people assert as "facts" are not always as factual as the proposer would have you believe.
  21. Be interested to see what you think of this once you've fitted it.
  22. Might it be the case that the higher octane in Tesco momentum reduces knock - and from that perspective might be as good or better than v-power, but I thought v-power also contains a mix of additives to clean and lubricate the engine and is therefore better from that perspective? Or is this just sales talk?
  23. We had a similar event last year and it took me weeks to get the marks off my car.
