  1. That will do nicely. Next challenge??
  2. Oil refinery? As I was taking this pic an official looking bloke in a white van approached me enquiring why exactly I was there. When I explained about the photo challenge he seemed okay that I wasn't an international terrorist. A nerdy weirdo maybe but I can live with that! So if that will do, the next challenge is your celica in a park or woodland. Just watch out for the park keeper..
  3. I managed to set off a car alarm the other week by just driving by, and my exhaust is standard! It was quite satisfying really. Still love the 7 and it does get some attention especially when it's all polished up and gleaming. Earlier today I was passing a local garage and noticed they had a type r (fn2) and a focus st2 both priced at 7500 so I thought I would have a look and sit in them. Sure they are quicker and better to drive but both left me a bit cold, especially the focus which felt like sitting in a 1.6 zetec. I turned back and looked at my celi and just thought it looks like twice the car at a third of the price.
  4. Sounds like most people have spent way less than the cost of a new fiesta. Well, apart from splinter maybe...
  5. Another vote for kurust here. For small chips just give them a good clean, put a bit of kurust on with a little artists brush and then you can just paint over them with a touch up pen.
  6. I was also thinking 215/45/17 would be better. It's quite a common size so tyres are cheaper and you get more choice.
  7. Goes to show it can happen to anyone.... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2577530/170-000-Ferrari-parked-London-square-gouged-lorry-tailgate-driver-fails-negotiate-corner.html
  8. Also worth keeping in mind that chips away is just a franchise so it's entirely dependent on the individual running that outfit. One could be great and another crap. Best to go on recommendation for bodywork repairs. My gf recently had her drivers side door bent when someone reversed into it. We got it repaired and resprayed at a local bodyshop that friends of ours have used and they did a brilliant job.
  9. Horrible thing to happen. And I think it's beyond the joke that we pay such big premiums for insurance and then feel that we daren't even claim when we need to. Shocking. Makes you wonder who the worst criminals are, the arseholes who did it or the insurance companies who force you into paying for it yourself.
  10. Are you in a position to have both the 7 as a daily and a GT4 as a fun car? If so then that's the best way to do it. I just bought an MR2 roadster because I've always wanted a soft top and like you, I think life is too short not to have the things you really want if you're in a position to do so. It just wouldn't work for me as a daily drive so I decided to keep my 7 as well. The main benefit is having the choice of 2 very different cars to drive whenever I want which is great. Also the mileage on my 7 won't increase as much because I'll be using the MR2 quite a bit in the summer. As the MR2 is a bit more economical it might even save me a few quid in petrol over the year as well. So if you could run both you would probably be saving a grand a year in fuel based on dubs figures. That could pay for your insurance and tax so in theory it shouldn't be much more expensive. And when you go out in the morning you get to decide which car to take! I'm working on my partner to swap her crappy Hyundai for a 'rolla' SR diesel so we have a nice little fleet!!
  11. I always liked the honda vtecs just as much as the vvtli. To me the idea of a car you can drive normally everyday with good economy but will go like stink if you rev is perfect. Turbos spoil the fun in the same way as diesel does IMO. I like my performance accompanied by wailing banshees! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  12. Does the GT86 rev high? Most performance cars these days need a turbo because they are so heavy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  13. I would hope the GT86 is better than the celica.... GT86 = 25k Celica T sport = 2.5k Not very fair comparison really.
  14. I've never had any luck asking for parts at my local Mr T. The waiting area is always full of old people having coffee whilst their yaris/auris/avensis is being serviced. It seems like if your car is over 3 years old they're just not interested and have no idea.
  15. Yey so they do. Just been down to local dealer and they had themin stock. Thanks
  16. Where is the best place to get touch up paint for Toyotas? I've just got an mr2 with a few stone chips here and there that need sorting but could also do with one for my celica as well. I know the codes but the last one I bought for the celica wasn't a very good match. Cheers
  17. Funny thing is they had that car for sale when I bought mine last september 2012! It was too expensive back then and it's still too expensive now.
  18. Yes none of us have friends, not real ones anyway. Nor do we know any fit girls. And could we please rule out any kind of physical challenge??
  19. A realistic challenge would be good, one that probably doesn't involve attractive women. Obviously the majority of us celica nerds don't know any attractive women!
  20. As you'll be topping up when cold I would go about half way between min and max, it will only take a tiny bit anyway. Someone may correct me but as far as I know if you overfill it will just blow out of the overflow pipe so no harm really. Check it after a few miles and it will probably sit on the min when cold. As long as it stays there after that then all is well.
  21. It's possible that the level could drop very slightly even after its been bled. If your level is just under the min when cold then that's not far off normal. Perhaps just top it up a little and keep an eye on things. When the engine is cold the level is usually on or around the minimum mark.
  22. I have a great camera and some patio heaters if bosslady would like to come round??
  23. Holy s**t! I don't think ethnic origin really matters there does it??!
