  1. Didn't read all the posts I admit, but this lives in the back of my car and is fecking excellent jack! only criticism is that it only lifts to 300 odd mm which is lower than most axle stands, but for on road , is the only thing that works (remember that when you have a puncture, your clearance is reduced) sounds silly but on a lowered car is a real consideration!!!! was £75 off Ebay iirc and is tough as nails ( has jacked a Transit)
  2. I admit I bought my Celica without sorting the insurance and did a 'midnight run' to get her the 30odd miles home. The insurance figure ended up being lower than the Audi I had at the time and also than the Mazda that replaced it. now even cheaper through Greenlight.... You have the money, he has the car. Not your problem! If you were buying the car from him, do you think he would be concerned? (the answer is no by the way!) Johnny Boy.... shame on you...... better answer is to offer him half the buying price and get it back for Celicakind!
  3. I bought Avons for the Celica a few months back (albeit ZV5'5) as they were on offer. Have to say however that the dry grip is excellent and even perform well in snow! only issue I have had is with standing water, but thats probably not the tyres fault. Will definately get Avons again.
  4. Up here, I think its more a case of what the fook is that car that waved at me, dont think many of the Gen 7 owners up here realise there were models before theirs (or that they are driving such an iconic car!) agree bud, there are 2 gen 6 in my villiage, but (at the last count) 7 gen 7's and the population is about 8000 people!!! Celica Rednecks......lol
  5. Theres a Silver 6 in the village and I have flashed and waved 3 times and nothing, the only 2 waves I have had (to my recollection) was a white 6 in Ayrshire when i was driving with Chan last year and surprisingly about 3 weeks ago from a red GT86!! Good man!
  6. I can see that POV, after all for years it has been accepted that the MOT is only good for showing the car at that point in time. I know of cars that are unroadworthy the day after the MOT was passed........ for us honest people however the whole point of allowing the car to be tested in advance was to give you time to fix and keep the history going. Actually as I type this I now realise that doesn't work!!!
  7. thats a good point, I have thought about this often. the car does have a valid MOT so therefore should be covered. if it fails within the term, that gives you a month to get it fixed. Thats how i see it anyway. Think however this is why you see a lot of cars for sale with 1 month MOT, they have stuck it in and it's failed miserably!!
  8. the best way to find out is to do it. lots of guys have done this as first attempt and they have turned out really well! There are a few guy on here do it professionally. could always buy a spare set to try wrapping out on?
  9. ugly and broken is the answer to the question........
  10. Stickers were on the top, along with a booklet stating 'must not be used on the Road!' aye right!! Yeah max height and med softness methinks!!
  11. Just drive past them really really quickly!
  12. bit of a frape, but another 'Flying Celica' undergoing full respray...... With the sealing, I would take the cards out and do the doors, doors seem to be one of the worst rot areas of gen6, no doubt due to pillerless construction, strip every bit of trim and spray the hell out of it, can only help!!
  13. only spotted ths now! thanx!! Exactly David, individuality!!
  14. Told you!! as they say in the JDM culture 'Win!' JDM rears are nice, however I think by keeping the origionals, I am keeping it real (Johnny Boy John style!!)
  15. Ha! you know now that you cant spray yours Satin black!!! Ok so mibbies more Euro, but hey different is good! Shepherd not sheep!!
  16. Thanks guys, end of rant!! I think It would be too difficult to inspect the Hondas / Subarus / Evos and determine if the parts are Jap spec to criticise... at least I know that mine is UK Yo!!!! but the German / Italian mob are Dumfuk Yo!!!!
  17. so if made for a different market than Japan, not JDM yes? so if fitted with Jap spec aftermarket parts (tuning or more probably styling) then it evokes 'JDM culture' and would therefore be described as JDM. That I get and can agree with.
  18. Yes my Celica is also made in Japan, in the Supra plant, but for the UK / Europe Market - hence not JDM.. Think it's just stupid Nedlings who are jumping on the 'bolt it on and make it cool' scene being made in Japan does not make it JDM...... think its a 'youth thing'........ then again, with the education system the way it is, no wonder we are breeding sheep! What is your interpretation on the JDM Culture, I have read several blogs / descriptions, but cant seem to tie it down to a particular style, hence my frustration.
  19. Ok so maybe i'm wrong or just too old, but has the JDM phrase just getting taken out of context? JDM is initially the term for Japanese Domestic Market. I understand that JDM has also been adopted as a 'style' of tuning / modifying Japanese cars (not necessarily qualifying the first description) But it seems to me that just about anything these days seems to be tagged with JDM. I laugh each time I see a 'JDM as Fuck' sticker on the back of Fiats and BMW's....... So what do you feel qualifies a car to be described as JDM (apart from the obvious it's an import) and how do you interpret the JDM culture? I have refused many invitations for 'JDM' meets as my car is not JDM. When I say this I get funny looks / comments.....
  20. You could always buy one and report back for the greater good! As a general rule however, the problems are in the description 'cheap ones from ebay' seldom transpire to be the bargain they look. This however is not an external part, so heat affect or really shit rubber seal aside, cant see a problem with this! would be good to see if any of the '10' are on here...
  21. So you wanted a change eh!!!!...... Thought it was going to be a gen6 GT or something 'easier' to run. nice looking Faff, is that metallic Green? don't think I've seen that colour before!
  22. Glad to hear you've decided to keep the Faff. I was laughing at this point also.....
