  1. top job on the wheels bud, caliper is looking nice in there also
  2. taken after a quick search to find out Craig "Wheel Balance: Out-of-balance tires will cause a car to vibrate at certain speeds, usually between 50 and 70 mph. A tire is out of balance when one section of the tire is heavier than the others. One ounce of imbalance on a front tire is enough to cause a noticeable vibration in the steering wheel at about 60 mph. To balance a wheel, the technician will mount it on a balancing machine which spins the wheel to locate the heavier part. He will then compensate for the heavy part by attaching a lead weight on the opposite side. Many people are pleasantly surprised at how smooth their car drives after balancing all four wheels. Most high quality tires will hold their balance fairly well and go out of balance very gradually. If you notice a vibration that wasn't there the day before, it is possible that one of the lead balancing weights fell off. If you feel the vibration mostly in the steering wheel, the problem is most likely in a front wheel. If the vibration is mostly in the seat, the problem is probably in the rear. For those of you who are very sensitive about vibrations and your shop can't seem to get that last bit of vibration out, check to see if you have locking wheel lugs. Some locking lugs are as much as 1.5 ounces heavier than the other lug nuts which translates to about 1/2 ounce at the wheel rim. Try putting a 1/2 ounce weight opposite the locking lug and see if it helps."& no brand new wheels without tyres fitted don't have balancing weights , but if you get them with tyres fitted they do as they have to balance them due to the tyres being out of balance
  3. was always under the impression that a wheel will pretty much always need balancing due to tyre imbalances, not because the wheels are buckled otherwise you wouldn't need to get new wheels balanced when you got tyres fitted & why when you buy new alloys with tyres fitted they always say included fitting & balancing,
  4. is actually very easy to do yourself, providing you have the tools.

  10. the place in Grimsby was CJ powder coating on Whilton Rd Ind.Est. i had no problems with grit in them,as i was renewing the seals i left the piston in & taped everything up for them, although there was no need as they removed everything & redid it, as they have had problems years ago with grit in places so are very careful to stop that happening, they charged me £60 for all 4 http://www.celica-club.co.uk/forum/index.php?/topic/135998-calipers-back/page__hl__%2Bpowder+%2Bcoaters__fromsearch__1
  11. don't forget the 30/35/40/45 etc is not a measurement as in that amount of mm, its a % of the tyre width so 205/45/17 will have a slightly smaller overall diameter than 215/45/17's & thats why i will be running a 35 profile on the rear & a 40 on the front to keep the overall sizes very close to each other
  12. wow i could do with a new 1 of those could you plz pm me the part number/code as for that price it would be rude not to get one:)
  13. that or lightly tap in a torx bit if you have1 thats just over size, ofc be careful not to hit it too hard & crack the rocker cover, have done this in the past used them as an easy out
  14. the only difference as far as i'm aware between a VVTi-190 engine & the t-sport is the revised lift bolts ( flange bolts part# 90105-06293) so maybe change those to be sure but everything else is the same, the 190 engine does not suffer from the oil burning issue the pre-face 140 potentially had. although the oil lvls etc should always be checked as any engine starved of oil or old oil will/can have problems .
  15. payed £2350 for mine just over a year ago with 118k on it, service history & loads of paperwork recent clutch etc so 2k would sound about right

  22. Also 2nd the Halfords "Advanced" range formally the professional range guaranteed for life & whoever you speak to if you should break anything don't care if you have maybe been a little over zealous with it, unlike the snap-on representative who i believe will have to send it back to get the warranty & he will always try to sell you more, sry but seen too many take advantage of young apprentices ( not that you are) & put them in debt for tools they just don't need:( That all said they are good tools but have had my Halfords professional socket set for 13yrs+ & still going strong used in forklift industry daily
