  1. I've never sold a car before to a punter. They always ended up being scrapped for one reason or another. I sold a motorbike on eBay though and that ended up being to a trader. He came with a trailer and I just let him jump on the bike as he didn't look like he'd run off in a hurry with a YBR125.
  2. At the very least tractors tend to be kept out of city centres, are also not allowed on motorways unless a certain minimum speed can be reached. It's not ideal. One of these examples of political examples of "cutting red tape" forgets that this red tape is in place because it saves lives.
  3. Seems like a terrible idea to me. It's not that hard to keep a car road worthy enough to pass an MOT.
  4. I try to keep rice out my cars and keep put it in a bowl, with some lovely food on it. I've become more partial to brown rice lately.
  5. This. Forgive me, but isn't the best commercial strategy just to make a model series that keeps on selling well? I'd imagine the GT86 sales figures wouldn't lead anyone from Toyota to believe there's a huge pent up market for coupes. If they thought they could make a packet by releasing another FWD coupe, they'd do so tomorrow. But instead they're introducing new models like the C-HR. The Supra would merely be a halo car to get people to see the brand as something other than a white goods manufacturer again. Therefore they'll make a handful that'll cost a fortune, with no real intention of having a wider audience.
  6. That does depend on the quality of the refurb and whether it was with OEM parts. If it was done by a pro with a good reputation, I'd go for the refurbed one too. If it was done by an amateur, I'd probably go for the low mileage one.
  7. I managed to actually wash and slightly polish the GT4 at the weekend. It was bloody hard work.
  8. Doesn't sound like a bodge, sounds more like you improved upon Vauxhall's engineering.
  9. Nope. It's a quality build car that's taken well care of. The MOT isn't terribly strict anyway.
  10. When going around a corner the outer tyre covers a greater distance than the inner. 2000 miles over 4 years doesn't sound overly weird, depending on your total mileage. Sent from my Nexus 9 using Tapatalk
  11. Do you take more left or right handed corners? If you were driving the Indy 500, you'd expect one side to wear more than another. Sent from my Nexus 9 using Tapatalk
  12. Not quite as funny as that time someone in the middle of winter couldn't figure out how to close their passenger window and drove like that for miles until they realised the window lock button was pressed though.
  13. I strangely find myself attracted to:
  14. The correct rigid front fork for my MTB build..
  15. I believe it's more due to proprietary extensions to the ODB-II that's the problem. These can be reverse engineered but it's rarely worth the effort.
  16. Hammerite's Kurust is along similar lines.
  17. But RWD would be quite a bit more expensive than FWD for the younger, inexperienced?
  18. It's quite ironic Mercedes is seen as high quality when they have had some very serious quality problems. But then again, so have Toyota. The 2003 Avensis I had, had very flimsy interior and was falling apart in a way that my gen 5 or 6 never would even contemplate. It has to be said that the sales figures quoted in my initial post were US ones, not the UK ones, so the snob factor only holds true in the sense that there's plenty of people who see Japanese cars as inferior to the ones from Ford, GM or Chrystler. Personally, the biggest reason I haven't got rid of the GT4 is that there's no decent replacement. Well, the TT, but I don't want one of them.
  19. That's exactly what Toyota did with the MR-S, still sold as well as hot dog turds. And people kept on buying MX5s.
  20. Here's Tiff about the ST185 and the MR2: And Clarkson destroying the ST202 in a bit about coupes: And then about the GT4: So, the gen 6 was: too ugly; and, too expensive. But that first video is really making me want to get a 5. By your logic the MR2 should've been a bit of a sales success, which I don't think it was. Toyota used to put its most powerful engines in its coupes, the 3S-GTE and 7M-GTE, 1JZ-GTE. That changed with the 7. Coupes may be a bit of a fashion item, but so are the Fiat 500. Ironically I think the 500 Abarth is quite desirable. The fact is though that the lower powered versions will always outsell the higher powered ones, simply as most people want a good looking car but the best fuel economy, or simply the lowest cost car. And of course, when Toyota made a superb handling coupe with a low power engine that's very usable, what do people do? Complain about a lack of power! Looking at the US sales for the Scion FR-S (which is what the GT86 is sold as in the States), we get the following sales figures: Scion FR-S 2016 7.457 2015 10.507 2014 14.062 2013 18.327 2012 11.417 Looks like it sold worse than the gen 6! I think at the moment only Audi are making a decent coupe in the TT.
  21. GT4 anyone? Problem with performance is that it costs a lot. The Top Gear review of the ST205 by Clarkson mentions just how expensive it was compared to rivals. Sent from my Nexus 9 using Tapatalk
  22. Too little, too late? Watch it flop.
  23. I wouldn't hold out much hope for the next Toyota Coupe. I know there's a Supra-esque car in the pipeline. But look at their latest model.. There's not many new-ish cars I actually find interesting. If anything, I would be very tempted by a Tesla Model 3.
  24. Yup. I still have a set in the silver that my Avensis was in. Works ok for small chips but you have to be quite precise.
