  1. Lol she'll probably run away if you started talking about knobs with her I could do this all day! In all seriousness I hope a weighted knob helps you out. Mis-shifting sucks
  2. Big knobs always make a difference, dude. Don't listen to nun 'o dem hoes who say "size don't matter brah". That's like saying you'll choose personality over looks. I'd rather wake up next to a looker who's got the personality of a wall than a complete dog who makes me chuckle from time to time Time for my meds I think.
  3. nah bruv its the left one init Lol there's your problem
  4. Are you depressing the clutch when changing gears? My useless advice for the day. Back tomorrow!
  5. I got the rear quarters and hatch done for £90. I spent around £40 on tint, tools (squeegee, special lube spray etc) but I just couldn't do it to save my life. From now on I'm only ever gonna pay a pro to do it - this is what I recommend you to do too. It doesn't take them long either
  6. The ride will be harder - you're sitting on stiffer springs so there's less "bounce" in them. I've noticed the ride is harder and I do feel the bumps in our crappy British roads more, but you get used to it. It's not what I'd call "spine-shattering" or "bum bashingly" hard though - it's more noticeable but not uncomfortable at all. Oh, and you'll want to try even harder to dodge pot-holes once you're lowered
  7. I'll put my vote in for Apex springs too. Fitted for around 6 months and can't fault them.
  8. Thanks for the info mates The chap is gonna give it a go again on the 26th October as he is booked up till then. A full respray of the door and bumper for free If it's still naff I'll pop into CAB and call Trading Standard etc and go from there. Here's to hoping it'll come out looking really nice
  9. Thanks guys. I did give it a good going over with a machine polisher on Sunday, but to no avail The paint dude got back to me and he is going to do the work again for free. He told me there are two shades of Astral Black (202); one of which is 'muddier' than the other? That's news to me Anyways, hopefully this time it'll come out looking awesome instead of "oo looks good from that side, now the OH EM GEE MY EYES THEY BURN"
  10. Okay so some of you Gen 7'ers know that I got a crap paint job done about a month ago. Basically the paint doesn't match properly (Astral Black: 202) and the finish is 'dull' / not as mirror-like as the rest of the car. I have sent a letter to the workshop letting them know of the poor finish and that I am willing to let them take the car back to work on it again to do it properly. What other steps should I take at this time? Are there any governing bodies I should inform about this poor work? Third party comments on the work? (i.e. review from another paint shop) Or should I wait to see what this chap says before moving forward with anything else? Pics; It is the door and rear bumper. I paid £250 for both panels and the work took 2 days (oven baked). P.s. Apologies to mods if this is in the wrong sub-forum.
  11. I'm with Sky and I just call up and say "yeah I've done x and y to it this week" and they send me a mod form to check and send back (to confirm it's all correct) and that's that. No admin fees, no premium adjustments, nothing. Happy days! My rule of thumb has (and always will be) if you are putting something on your car that wasn't on there when it rolled out of the factory, then tell the insurance company. They will do anything they can to prevent having to pay out for a claim, so don't give them a chance to do that and declare everything. That way, if you are involved in a bash, you're totally covered. Sure, you may pay more for it now (depending on who you're with) but isn't an extra couple of quid now better than having to cover ALL costs as your insurance company won't pay out as you failed to declare changes to your car? Imagine that!
  12. You are both right. Toyota discounted branding the 190bhp Celica as the VVTi-190 in 2002 and re-launched the 190bhp "T-Sport" and "GT" models as facelifted vehicles after 2002.
  13. As mentioned before, there are only a few minor differences between "facelift" and "pre-facelift" Celicas. It is mainly a few exterior changes; the front bumper looks different and the rear lights are a different design. Also the clock light is different along with a deeper coloured interior trim/plastics. The "main" difference is the 140's had a re-designed engine due to an infamous design flaw called the "death rattle", which, if left unchecked, killed your engine. This is ONLY on 140's, so you're fine. However, the 190's had re-designed lift bolts as Hoody01 said - this was because Toyota's first design prompted them to break fairly often, which means partial or full loss of lift. The re-designed bolts prevent this. And finally... you have a 190bhp car with lift engaging after 6500rpm and you only go up to 3000? Next time you see a national speed road coming up to you - drop down to second and give it some beans. Hitting the red line will pop you up to just short of 62mph - perfectly legal. Although it is illegal to speed, I'm not sure if it's illegal to get to the speed limit really fast? You NEED to feel lift once in a while dude. The car wants it and is very sad lol
  14. No problem, gotta love the boosted 7's engine bays
  15. If it's the one I think you're referencing (with -EN on - for "Se7en") then that's an induction pipe for his supercharger there is another induction pipe just 'above' the 'chargers filter - you can see it going right then bending down into the engine bay - that's his engine's main intake induction Dunno how long either are, but they're both good bits of kit.
  16. my other half preferred my last car - fiat grande punto 1.9 turbo diesel - only because of the turbo kicking in. The Celi is faster (just... its a 140 lol) but it doesn't "feel" fast as the power delivery is steady. Wait till I get a 190 and show her what the fuss is about
  17. Damn, I feel gutted for you. That's gonna cost to get a new one I had my car sprayed on the driver's door and then keyed on the rear bumper about 6 weeks later. Getting it resprayed soon to fix it up. If I catch the goon(s) responsible the law will have to turn a blind eye for a while lol.
  18. lol oh yeah sorry dude, I forget he was behind you! The little pest I've amended my post to speak the truth instead of lies!! Just rock up and say "Lee, I couldnt shake this pesky VXR. Here's my credit card. Do what you need to do" He will do the rest
  19. Lol, ok, I should amend that to focus on "road cars" instead of high performance F1 racing vehicles Although it would be interesting to drive one of *those* bad boys to work
  20. I actually really like the look of the Arctic White Corsa VXR's. There's a dude down my way who has a blue one, and it looks like a compressed Astra VXR lol When I was looking at buying my Grande Punto, I went to a Fiat/Vauxhall garage and sat inside an Astra VXR. It was awesome - the dials were fancy, the sports seats were very grippy and anything and everything had "VXR" plastered on it. 0-60 in about 6.5 seconds isn't to be sniffed at either. Shame it was out of my budget I'm into sports coupes at the mo (thus the celica) but I can imagine in the future (if I go back to wanting a hatchback) then I will be getting something like the Corsa or Astra VXR. Performance and practicality! But I agree with the above. It's the driver's that make the car what it is. Unfortunately Corsa's have been tagged as 'chavvy' as its all the kids can afford when they pass their test lol. As it's their pride and joy they splash their Sainsbury's wages on it to make it look better and go faster - both, obviously, from their point of view and tastes. But this thread isn't about how chavvy the old Corsas are; it's about how a dude got trounced by couldn't shake off a Corsa VXR I think it's awesome what we can get out of a 1.6 engine with a relatively small turbo in
  21. Nah I noticed it before I had my custom exhaust built and installed. My car only jolts in 2nd or 1st if I take my foot completely off the accelerator too fast. If you move it off a bit (so the car starts slowing down due to the closing throttle) before you take it right off it'll help (this is what I do).
  22. Yeah it's a cable driven throttle. I get the jolt occasionally in 2nd, too - although not quite as apparent as you guys are describing it as! :/ I've found that if you ease off the accelerator a little before lifting your foot off completely it helps (for me at least - worth a try?)
  23. SKY didn't say "yes" but they didn't say "no" either. Confusing. Basically they said it's okay as long as you correct it for MOT time? (as people whack their cat back on for testing them remove it after). However, if the insurance company are aware of the HID kit modification (and its on your files as installed) then I reckon it would have to stand up in court as it's the insurers responsibility to tell you if they do or do not cover certain items - if HIDs were bad news to them they wouldn't insure it to the fact they're illegal and they should say that to you when you attempt to declare them? It's a funny one alright lol. Yes they're illegal but we are okay to get the mod insured?? As mentioned before I'm going back to Osram's when I get my T-Sport to be ready for the new 2012 HID law. That's my 2 pence boys and girls
