  1. ahh okies. just thinking safety first temp of calipers & discs would be interesting though
  2. erm, should you pop the lid off the reservoir when the brake fluid is going to be hot? they usually say not to open the various lids when the engine's warm.
  3. it'll look less suspicious if there's no cut out for the TRC. if there's a cut out for it but it doesn't light up on ignition, examiner might be suspicious
  4. interesting that the HID thing could be open to interpretation. the headlight cleaning and levelling point only says "when fitted" .... so does that mean that if you have HIDs but no headlight levelling/cleaning, you're fine? is it only a fail if you have HIDs AND headlight levelling/cleaning fitted, but the levelling/cleaning devices don't work?
  5. I had Avon tyres on my old motorbike and they were great. Decided to go for the Rainsports on the Celica though at a similar price to yours
  6. well due to a few missing parts in that equation, I'm already certain that that's quite definitely a lot more than what was done to mine. I'm just hoping I got a full and comprehensive service, but I have a feeling it may be just excessive East London weighting. ho hum.
  7. nah, prob useful for other people wondering how much it may cost. although the price range seems huge
  8. yeah, as far as I gather from over the phone, it was all 4 corners... not just front 2. So 4 wheel alignment... I'll double check the invoice when I get home. I wanted to check the price now as girlfriend needs it for this afternoon so is picking the car up and paying. Otherwise i'd have collected & discussed/paid in the morning
  9. errrrmmm... maybe it does include the MOT? At least i hope there was some kind of miscommunication, and it does! ... Mods can you delete this thread now please, so I don't have to be subject to the rediculously cheap quotes for this service outside of London
  10. Yeah. They're a pretty neat and tidy garage who also run a few racing Smart cars. Gotta admit the name doesn't inspire great confidence http://www.dipsticks.co.uk/index.html but if it was 4 wheel alignment, I've been told by another place locally that it's a very similar price to what they'd have charged if all 4 wheels were out. (i called the local 'family' garage my parents have always used, and they recommended a local tyre specialist who i called, and they said the price was about right) .... looks like i need to head out of London when i want my alignment doing!!
  11. I dropped my car off for the MOT today before going to work. I just called up now, and it passed just fine. So no worries there. When I left it with them, I told them I wanted the alignment checking too, as the car pulls to the right a little bit, and when on the phone I asked how that went. They said the alignment was out completely on all corners, so they corrected it and it would be £95 I'm sure I've never paid that much for tracking before... what could they possibly have done to rack up that bill? 4 wheel laser geometry?
  12. sorry to see this. something similar happened to my 140, but bit more damage... no note or anything so fuggin infuriating at the end of the day though you can't work yourself up about it or you'll never end up driving your car anywhere and just wrap it in bubblewrap on your drive. hopefully it'll be an easy fix and the paintjob will blend in with the rest of the bodywork nicely.
  13. that was facelift, but don't see how the preface would be any different.
  14. i did the stereo LEDs. they're the same ones as window switch, tiny but doable. orange to red
  15. There's also "Duraflex" which alot of the American replicas are made of. It's a kind of fibreglass mixed with a little something that makes it slightly more bendy than normal fibreglass, but not as flexible as urethane. Duraflex or similar equivalents can come in black, white or green. I'd aim for urethane wherever possible, but Duraflex as a substitute if replicas are only available. Steer clear of fibrelgass for anything that may bend or come into contact with a surface at any point (ie lip/bumper/sideskirt) But as said above fibreglass is easier to fix when cracked. although there's no knowing just how deep the internal cracks may be between the layers.
  16. yeah, just use some electrical tape, should be fine and not mark it at all... the spoiler will probably cover any marks left anyway (although highly doubt there would be any)
  17. yeah, i'd say clear vinyl or helcopter tape in key areas... sticking magnets on the car will only scratch up the paint underneath
