  1. Way i view it you maintain the car in accordance with use - if you like to drive around as intended not ragging it everywhere then there is no need to be spending exhorbitant amounts on top of the line oils when the recommended fluids are more than ample for your needs. On the other hand if you take your car on the track, have it modified or went to the further expense of boosting the motor then you will require and benefit the added protection from the higher quality - and subsequently more expensive - lubricants. As with 99% of things, you gotta pay if you want to play!
  2. Think it's ELF excellium 5w/40 fully synth i have in mine (get it gratis so unsure of the exact name )
  3. Give those scratches a once over with t-cut and it'll take 80% of the horribleness away from it - won't straighten the panel or replace the removed paint but will at least camoflage it a little until you get it fixed.
  4. The relays can use both filament and LED's mixed which is very handy I've had one fitted to my car for 3 years+ without issue.
  5. You can buy ballast resisitors and fix them at the bulb to reduce the rate of the flash or you can get hold of a modified flasher relay that will cure this without the need to be putting resistors all over your car. I'll be back with an edit once i find the link to the relay http://www.ebay.com/...51edefb&vxp=mtr there are a few sellers with different/better prices/postage etc. Have a hunt around to see whats the best deal - i'm in work so can't access Ebay so have no idea whats what and just pulled that link from a PM i sent a while ago!
  6. If they are fitted in reflector housings they are a bloody nuisance to other road users - you can get reflector housing specific HID bulbs but IMO these still give off glare in most applications. If you are fitting them to projectors then most of the time the light output is controlled enough not to be a nuisance but some cheap aftermarket replacements can be terrible too. If I had reflector headlamp units in my car I wouldn't ever consider fitting HIDs. Edit - I couldn't care less about the law as its only at MOT time it'd really be relevant, it's annoying other road users I'm concerned about because I know it bugs the life outa me when another inconsiderate cnut is going the other way or comes up behind you with these blue blazing balls on the front of their cars obliterating your vision of anything that may be important. There, rant over lol
  7. If you are on facebook there are normally locally based selling pages that you can post things for sale on. some of these are dedicated to cars so might be another avenue to explore.
  8. Happy Anniversary keef-b!

  9. 70% of the funds now in the pot Missed out on the 10% sale they had on in January
  10. Was pleasantly surprised today at the MOT station, car only done 3k miles since its last visit and sailed through the test today with no advisories
  11. Nice one on getting the pass, always a good feeling! If i get my arse out of bed early enough i'll be doing the same tomorrow - guess that'll be next week it's getting done then  lol
  12. You could offer him a scotch pie, buttered roll (with only two bites out of it) and a couple of bent teaspoons (i'd say 5 maximum) - think thats a fair price for a car with a scrap engine in my opinion . . . . . .
  13. Not in my case bud - the backing plates were all corroded under the friction material which is why they fell to pieces
  14. I had this same issue with redstuff front and rear pads and greyracer had it with his greenstuff rears. Get onto EBC and kick up a stink, i did and got rewarded with a set of yellow stuff front and rear pads to make me go away and stop being a pain. Don't let them fob you off - it works
  15. Getting it thrown out on technicality is good but beating them over the head with a ruling in your favour saying "i was in the right" is even better. No matter how the outcome is reached, as long as it's in your favour then it's all good.
  16. If you want to spend that little on rubber look on mytyres at StarPerformer tyres (cheesy name i know) - still by no means a good tyre but will be 100x better than nankangs.
  17. If it's not loud enough to catch their attention you would think that no one would bother you
  18. but will be manufacturer option so (back to this word) "technically" will still be manufacturer specification as they are an option part. Well that's how i'd read it but the revenue collectors - sorry let me rephrase that - traffic police may take whatever view their chief constables targets require then to take to meet said targets. KPI's are a cruel mistress
  19. I've went for an optima yellow top - not cheap but can mount it anywhere you want, more than enough juice, and you can leave the car for 3 weeks+ turn the key and it goes no probs. cheapest place i could source them was tayna - was only a few quid between the cheapest places.
  20. Probably a bad seal as you say and with the cold weather allowed it to open up. No idea on needing to replace the tyre, i was always under the impression that once the foam was in the tyre needed binned If you have not driven on it would it not be better to get the wheel to a tyre place and have it checked out before gunking it up with foam?
  21. It's altered from the manufacturers specifications though. On the same technicality then you could also be caught out for using a cheap economy brand replacement mild steel system if it was producing too much noise.
  22. I'm with Dan on the insurance thing - retired my TSport and got a diesel for work. Then got a call from the insurance explaining that the no claims discount I had was already "in use" so needed to redo the policy. Ended up more expensive to insure a 306hdi 3rd party than fully comp on my TSport!
  23. 5000K FTW - been saying that for years now  lol
  24. I'm with the halfrauds caliper paint too - two or three coats and it's as red as a red thing thats been painted well kinda red . . . . . Edit - well . . . .ok, in that picture it does look a tad orangish, but in daylight the red is red - honest
  25. I had MR2's for years before this so the hairdressers comments are long since past - my other half does call the celica a girls car though, but she drives a BMW 3 series diesel staff car so go figure . . . . . .
