  1. I've been up against a stock GT86 being driven by a pro race driver a couple of times at Knockhill. It passed me on the main straight but then could not shake me off for many laps. I could still travel through the complexes faster but always trailed at the end of the main straight.
  2. Lol, Perhaps Matt forgot what you did and do for a living. Nice to see you back Andy.
  3. I started a topic GT86 1/12/2011 after my test drive. I had 112 replies but for some reason the forum will not let me access it or make a link to it. Apparently I am denied access to my own post?
  4. Because they were originally fitted with the very same EOM tyres as fitted to the Prius. The standard tyres are 215/45R17 87W Michelin Pilot Primacy. These are primarily designed as a low resistance tyre for increased MPG but Toyota knew that because of the tyres characteristics, low resistance tyres can be forced to brake away and drift hence putting more fun factor into the GT86.
  5. More modern car and I'd have bought one when they came out had the rear seats been usable and bit bit more oomph from the engine. Wheels and spoiler are marmite. It handled well enough on its skinny Prius tyres. Been up against a couple on track. Found them a little faster at the end of the straights but my handling still had it though the complexes. A lot of deals around on them now as they have not sold as many as Toyota wanted.
  6. Best service again from Stewart, FreakyParts. http://www.celica-club.co.uk/forum/index.php?/topic/174535-freakyparts/
  7. Nice picture Matt so that will do. All the way from Florida as well. Clever.
  8. Ok, so your Celica photographed beside a signboard of a Racing Circuit.
  9. On my way to a track day at Knockhill, a slight detour.
  10. Acetone, borrow from wife, partner, girl friend. It's what they use to remove nail varnish. Back to Black and Ice from Halfords.
  11. Clean them back with acetone, the wipe on back to black, let dry, finish with Ice liquid wax.
  12. If that was actually true Trading Standards would go livid. Anyway the tanker driver is talking shit. There is only one main distribution site in Scotland, Grangemouth, and fuel companies use each others tankers especially to outlying areas. Tesco don't make fuel and only buy on the open markets. Their 99 is the minimum spec they they use and basically it is EU imported into SE England Thames storage facilities. They also buy from Shell and BP and in fact some of the 99 sold by TESCO outwith main population areas is really SHELL / BP. What you bought was genuine Shell V-Power sold to Tesco at market rates from Scottish distribution.
  13. This subject has been done to death so many times now but yes V-Power Nitro + is better for your engine. Will not give you more power but will burn better, run smoother and keep the internals cleaner especially with better plugs.
  14. its like toothpaste. Put it on an old brush, work it in and rub off with kitchen paper towel.
  15. Looks ok but make sure she has roller boots on if she's going to hang on behind you.
  16. Tyres? + surface condition? + steering input?
  17. Probably rubber related in present conditions. Just drive slower. I had to reduce my lap times by 7 secs just to stay on line.
  18. Bit like me at Knockhill on Saturday but that was because I could not get any heat into the rubber. Like ice driving without studs.
  19. I'd be inclined to turn down the coolies to a soft setting and see what happens. Adapt the settings to the current roads conditions.
  20. Ok Danny well done. It's all yours now. Next challenge.
