Auto-boy
I don't mean to sound rude or anything, perhaps I am just a bit nieve when it comes to convertable's, but do they really differ enough to warrant a dedicated forum section? Apart from the lid, what's the difference, many other celica's have leather interiors. Essentially, the vert is a GT, and apart from the back lights, they are very much the same. It's understandable with the GT4's as they have a turbo, different engine parts, drive train, 4x4, body work, costings and lots of other subjects. Just my 2pc. coughdrop
I can perfectly well understand why the vert thread may be a 'non-starter' for non vert owners but I'm looking forward to hearing from vert owners on here - yes, there will be a delay as there are so few of us, but that is half the point! We don't want to lose the specific info on our specialist subjects.... YOU may not see them as different but maybe WE do! As listed above, there are issues we need to deal with that are exclusive to the convertibles. Please stay on topic, this thread is not about the 1-3 & 4 debate.
Auto-boy
So why not have a Vert sticky in the Gen6 forum section and perhaps the same in the Gen5 one too, that way all the info can be stored in the same thread? Good Compromise I think. The problem with having more sections to the forum is that eventually it's just going to get so cluttered.

Good Compromise I think. The problem with having more sections to the forum is that eventually it's just going to get so cluttered. I'm happy with a sticky in GD for the time being (please), but splitting the information into gen specific areas does not have the same benefit as keeping soft-top information available to all owners, for example. Your solution would not help in this respect. I have updated the first post of this thread to give a wider range of ideas so please keep checking back to there. I would be particularly keen for the history of the verts to be sourced for a link or two. I have old brochures yet to be scanned & I'm sure other members such as CubicIncubi have sources of info. kevst183
I think a separate forum for verts is a great idea. Let the sun shine!

pete66
If it's going to cause a major con flab. why not as already suggested post a sticky in the mods forum, for all vert related questions. That way everyone is catered for. just put a flagged message up asking anyone with a question not covered to post "vert question" in their subject box. Also direct any newbies to the newbie forum, with that in mind. Probably not to everyones liking but, might solve the issue.
coughdrop
This now IS on a sticky, but its in General Discussion where it is likely to be reasonably visible. 8) Any more pics people? PS more info on first post now .....
pete66
Came straight to the forum via my e-mail in box so, didn't realise i was in a sticky In my defence though, i was tired after a 12 hour shift. Be nice to me....
