Can my Gas Struts be saved?

Recommended Posts

Are you able to replace the very top part of the strut which sits firmly into the ball joint?

While removing this off the car, the nut had rounded which meant it had to be cut off using an angle grinder by my mechanic. There wasn't room to simply cut the nut/ball joint with the strut still in place.

The fixings will obviously be replaced with new parts but am hoping to save my original struts to maintain the originality of the car.

Thanks.

They are in with thread lock, if you heat them up first they will come out with a good spanner without rounding

Most new struts come with the ball anyway

Thanks Ams - I'm aware of the blue thread lock on the bolt, but I'm asking specifically about the very top part of the strut which has now been cannibalised (which fits on to the ball) - can this black part be replaced?

Otherwise, I'll have to buy new. Cheers mate.
