matt1280
Went to get my front wheels balanced because the steering wheel was shaking at 70 and turns out the passenger side alloy is buckled! I know exactly where and when this happened as well, bloody roads!!!!! Anyway my question is if I swap it with the back passenger side wheel will I feel it as much? It doesn't feel great when cornering or changing lanes so thought I wouldn't feel it if it was on the back?
Ownleemee
It will be better but what's your spare like ?
matt1280
Different wheel :-( it's the original alloy off the car, I'll try it on the back then at least it will be better steering.
Askari
The bloke who refurbed my alloys said that buckles on the front can be felt at lower speeds than buckles at the back, but he also said that leaving a buckled wheel on the car will eventually cause suspension damage. How bad is it? Can it be repaired? The buckle in one of mine cost me £50 to repair, which I accept is a lot of money but at least it is repaired. Shouldn't be too bad to get repaired buddy, just had my wheels done at pristine alloy wheels in Milton Keynes. They charge £50 a wheel but that includes removing the tire and balancing again so would be less if it's alloy only. Alloy Weldcraft are also brilliant. KrisSilver
Get it straightened when you can mate if I were you. I've paid £25ish at Maxpowder hemel before and still left it at the back, as it might not be perfect. Askari
where did you get it done - one of my rota's has a slight buckle i think Jason Addison at Addison Tyres in Princes End Tipton did the refurbishment for me, but I think he sent the buckled one to someone else for straightening. Did a good job, it was quite buckled but they straightened it and filled a couple of deep gouges. (This isn't the set I had on the car before, it's another set I brought on Ebay to swap between summer and winter tyres).

Probably Alloy Weldcraft, they do the repairs for a lot of the big chains too. http://www.alloyweldcraft.co.uk
matt1280
I'm just going to put it on the back for now and look for new wheels plus I'm looking for a new car so might not have it much longer
matt1280
Just thinking! My tyres are new so if I get some wheels I would want to fit the tyres. There 215/40/17 so would they fit any 17" wheels?
Cravo
Would fit any 17 x 7j or 17 x 8j without much if any stretch ok. Edited November 18, 2013 by Cravo
WheelRepair
It would be better on the rear, and even better repaired! We can do it while you wait, and you get. A celica club discount
matt1280
I might do that! And your not far from me! How much do you charge? Turns out both my fronts are buckled so I've put them on the back for now.
WheelRepair
Retail is £60 a rim, but there's a discount for CCUK members, so it will be about £50. Brews are usually personally made by me, and I can usually rustle up a biscuit for club members
matt1280
Well I'll be in touch soon mate! I'm trying to find a decent gt at the moment but I do want to keep my wheels! mole2704
I had one buckled a few years ago and put it on the back. The biggest problem was all the other drivers stopping me to tell me it was about to fall off
