The running order is: Gen7 Gen5 Gen6 Now let the arguements begin!!!

I think they are meant to just be a visual aid. Plus its this weeks edition! The listed figures are for: 1.8 T-Sport, 2.0 GTi-16 & 1.8 ST. All the figures seem right when compared to Parkers online. Dan23
35mpg compared to the gen 5 2.0 GT's 33 doesn't seem a major saving. thats why people buy them, and im sure people have seen closer to 40mpg on the 1.8s, or maybe its not that good cos you have to drive them hard to get any power out of them
Southernspeeder
Doesn't seem a fair comparision if you ask me... Near top spec gen 5 and 7 and yet the lowest of the low gen 6....
rpsmith79
To be fair, that is the bottom spec Gen 5 up against a bottom spec Gen 6 against a top spec Gen 7 If anything the Gen 7 is out of place
Southernspeeder
Point conceded .. wonder if they look at engine reliability though on the 7's
rpsmith79
No worries , but i think the Gen 7 should be demoted 2 places for being the highest spec against 2 bottom spec cars, making the Gen 5 the winner
Southernspeeder
+1 that... let the gen5 vs gen6 discussion keep going for many years to come.... that article is just fanning the flames
dublet
To be fair, that is the bottom spec Gen 5 up against a bottom spec Gen 6 against a top spec Gen 7 Bottom spec gen 5 is AT180 with a 4A-FE engine. 0-62mph in 11ish seconds. cooperman
have to agree with dub they did do an st gen 5 1.6 that i believe was very low on the mod cons like elecy windows, sun roof and alloys. but you try and find one of them. i have only ever seen one on the road and im sure there was one up for sale here recently. so thats a hole 2 i know of. lol andy
