Handbrake adjustment - are the new backplates genuine Toyota OEM? If not there may be issues with the plate/pin cable attachment flexing which will prevent correct operation of the handbrake.

Thanks for the input, the backplates come from Denmark and are made by 'Klokkerholm'.
A patten part with over 100 sales on eBay, and no bad reviews.
I know others on this forum have them fitted and all seems well.
The actual part looks to be very well made.
I wonder is if they've installed the new shoe and spring set correctly.
Can't really tell from the photos but some new parts do differ slightly.
Perhaps we will find out on Thursday

I had the same parts fitted. I had to have them removed and swapped out for OEM Toyota plates as the pins are not secured sufficiently to prevent flexing when the handbrake is applied.
Maybe yours are fine, and if you mention this to your mechanic I’m sure they will be able to confirm if it is the issue or not. Hope this helps. - Show next comments 3 more
