  1. Happy 2 Anniversary Aristotle!

  2. Thanks so much for posting this, looks really good! If I manage it I'll post up my efforts :-)
  3. Hello, Thanks for the support, I've sent Geraint a PM so maybe he can help me. I think I'll have a go anyway, the way I see it if I try and fail on my most broken key then I can still pay to have an official replacement which I'd to have do anyway. Sooner or later the key is going to completely crack open, spill its guts and give out. I don't intend to be stranded somewhere when I need my car to start! Where there's a will, there's a way!
  4. Hi, Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but I couldn't find any threads about replacement keys. I'm not as active a member as I'd like to be, I'm currently wrapped up in trying to move house at the moment so everything is a bit mental. Anyway, I'm onto my spare key now as the casing on my original started to crack. The spare is now cracked as well. I don't know if it's the way I turn it in the ignition or just what happens to these keys with age (52 plate Gen 7). I saw a post on a Facebook Celica Group (sorry it came up on my feed) that someone had made their own flip key transferring all the electronics into a flip key housing. Has anyone here successfully done it? The flip key casing looks pretty cheap anyway so I'm not worried about buying that in vain. I'm more wary of hacking at my original key only to find it doesn't work. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390653508867 I downloaded a picture but Photobucket won't upload it I also found these links: http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/98003-programming-a-replacement-key/ http://www.celica.talktalk.net/keyreprog.htm The CCUK post seems too old to trace back but I'm sure this must have been covered somewhere else. I would like to have a go anyway so any help will be welcome, thanks!
  5. I'm really enjoying this thread! When I see another Celica in the wild I'm always interested to see who's driving. I'm turning 29 shortly and am a data analyst for a commercial energy consultancy. A teacher at secondary school had a Gen 6 and always went on about how he was going to get a Porsche Boxter and then turned up with a brand new Gen 7. I always admired his Celicas and wanted a Gen 7 from then on. I finally got my wish 2 yeas ago (nearly to the day) when I came home with Aristotle. We are going to be together until the bitter end! I only see rudeboyz or old people driving Celicas around Warwickshire The 350Z is not as useful as a Celica... My husband has one and mine is the sensible car Granted it's probably more fun but I love my car more.
  6. Happy 1 Anniversary Aristotle!

  7. Thanks for the advice guys, I'm off to Halfords now to get supplies. Most of the annoying bits I can see probably aren't too visible to anyone else. Does anybody have any before and after pictures so I know what is achievable? Cheers!
  8. I fell foul as well, the sun came out to play on Saturday so I was out cleaning Aristotle. Turns out it was all a waste of time as the bastard dusty stuff was all over it this morning. After work I came back to my car to see it had pissed it down in Warwick and left dirty muddy spots all over Aristotle. I'm doubly sad as during that cleaning episode I also realised Aristotle is in need of bodywork repair
  9. I made the most of the sunny weather at the weekend and gave Aristotle a good clean. Unfortunately this also highlighted all the imperfections on his bodywork including rust! The main points of concern are around the door edges, the flanks and some areas where chips have gone down to the metal and began to rust. No bubbling of paint yet but I want to stop any of these ugly bits getting worse as otherwise the car is brilliant. I was wondering if anyone has any DIY advice for the minor bits (superficial chips or just down to the primer) and could recommend products and methods. I'm thinking something off the shelf for a decent finish with a bit of elbow grease as I don't want to attempt something and bodge it. Aristotle is Lagoon Blue btw. For the bits beyond an amateur I intend on approaching some bodyshops. I know another CCUK member has been to one near me and I had my wheels refurbished there. However they also did my neighbour's GT4 and he wasn't happy with the finish so I think further quotes will be required. I won't require a re-spray, the bonnet has minor specks from stone chips but it's not in dire need yet. Any advice welcome! Thanks
  10. On the plus side, it's still red and now you can completely see out the rear window not that parking it looks difficult, whichever orientation you tried it would probably fit any which way. It's not the end, you're just going on a 'break'...
  11. I always fear for the day it might happen to Aristotle. I would like to think that something worse might befall them. If it was malicious then what goes around comes around. I'm always really careful when moving inbetween cars as I wouldn't want anyone to scrape my car. I tend to be picky when I can with my parking choices as I can't rely on people to be considerate. I think it is possible to draw some conclusions by the choice and state of other cars, if you pick wisely it might be worthwhile. Paranoid or what!
