  1. Can someone give me a quick idiots guide to cleaning the door sensor switches in my gen 5 - the ignition ring light and one of the red door lights have stopped working and I suspect the sensor switches are the culprit. Can you take them out and clean them? p.s. I'm happy to admit to being the idiot, not suggesting anyone else is.
  2. I was always very pleased with Westlands Toyota in Stourbridge when they dealt with my Corolla and after that the Auris. Mind you, I've never tried taking my 1993 re-engined gen 5 there. Might be different.
  3. I do like those pictures you've mocked up. Need to get the curves and lights all lined up to make it work, but I like the look. Wouldn't do it myself, but I like the look!
  4. Just to finish of this thread, I used the ebay link posted by Old Red Celica and brought 5L of premixed coolant from Burrows Motor Company in Sheffield, who were very efficient and quick - but unfortunately it leaked while in transit. There's not much lost but enough that I'm glad I realised the problem before opening the packaging - and therefore did so outside rather than inside. I got a swift apology when I emailed the company, so no complaints about their customer service, but next time I'm going to follow Carla's advice and just go to my local Mr T.
  5. Right, trip to Toyota next week then.
  6. the only stuff I can find on Ebay is called EzyCare - is that okay? It's not exactly a brand name I recognise.
  7. Can anyone recommend an internet supplier for genuine Toyota long life red coolant - or a good quality equivalent - thanks.
  8. On Friday the postman delivered supplies for possibly the smallest mod ever. A black 6mm domed nut and washer to replace the silver one on my rear wiper.
  9. New front off side wheel hub (new meaning recovered) from TCB. Good service as usual.
  10. Jason Addison at Addison Tyres in Princes End Tipton did the refurbishment for me, but I think he sent the buckled one to someone else for straightening. Did a good job, it was quite buckled but they straightened it and filled a couple of deep gouges. (This isn't the set I had on the car before, it's another set I brought on Ebay to swap between summer and winter tyres).
  11. The bloke who refurbed my alloys said that buckles on the front can be felt at lower speeds than buckles at the back, but he also said that leaving a buckled wheel on the car will eventually cause suspension damage. How bad is it? Can it be repaired? The buckle in one of mine cost me £50 to repair, which I accept is a lot of money but at least it is repaired.
  12. There you go: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000XUPEJY/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  13. Headlights from the recent group buy - and a pair of these weird car dehumidifier bags filled with silica granules to try to reduce winter moisture inside the car - bit of a long shot but they get good write-ups on Amazon.
  14. A pair of car seat cover/cushions arrived from Amazon - in a vain attempt to protect my front seats from wear and tear now that both are in reasonable condition having been replaced with the best second hand ones I can find.
  15. I looked this up on the web a few weeks ago and it got good write ups for dropping emissions before MOTs on quite a few car club sites, so I brought some. Haven't got the certificate back yet to see whether it made any difference. But I only paid £12 on Amazon so £25 really does sound like a special offer!
  16. Ahhh your mid life crisis car. Which might be true but it winds me up. Cruelly started by my wife.
  17. Back in June I taxed my celica, which failed an MOT about a month earlier, using an MOT certificate from October last year. No problem. I hasten also to add that after the failed MOT I immediately repaired those things that the car failed on, but I did not take it back for another MOT. No need said DVLA you have a valid MOT from October and you're telling us your vehicle is roadworthy.
  18. You're wrong on that, I checked this with DVLA a few months ago - an MOT is valid until it expires - even if you then fail another MOT - the second does not supersede the first. Not that it's good to be driving a car that wouldn't pass an MOT of course.
  19. Yeah, me too - and what's wrong with beaded seat covers (as long as they're not those awful camel coloured ones)?
  20. Has anyone used the pressure indicator valve caps? Are they any good?
  21. Replacement aerial for my gen 5, from TCB Performance Parts. Arrived 24 hours after ordering as usual.
  22. This is fun. I love these petrol threads. Did it myself a couple of months ago but messed up the maths. I put the nitro stuff in because it makes me think I'm treating my baby right. If this week's maths say it's better, fine; if next week's says I'm wasting my money, equally fine - the celica makes me feel good and feeding her champagne instead of Asti Spumante is the least I can do in return. But, hey, let's do more of these threads, they're fun!
  23. Not the most exciting delivery perhaps, but a space saver wheel, originally from a GT-4 but should fit my facelift gen 5 without any problem and save a few lbs in the boot... Thanks to everybody who commented on my post about wheels and tyres last week.
  24. Sounds good, would you like to drop me a PM?
