  1. cable ties I'm normally very well equipped, but I forgot to bring cable ties on my recent roadtrip down to the New Forest yesterday. Sure enough, in the afternoon, after trouble-free driving, I suddenly hear a scraping and pull over to find my under-engine plastics dragging on the road! A road-side bodge with a bootlace holds them in place til I happen to stumble across a local garage who very kindly gave me 2 cableties to fasten them securely. So for those of you who are about to head off in your car: chuck a few cableties in your glove-box for good measure!
  2. It's a Vauxhall Astra... it looks like crap and will probably always look like crap no-matter how much money he throws at it. It'll also always be a Vauxhall, no matter what he does to it You don't even need to compete with him. You've already won.
  3. For a large it says £48.99 including VAT and free delivery on the website... http://www.care4car.com/productdisplay/productid/198/Waterproof_Breathable_Full_Car_Cover.html
  4. yeah. i'm just dubious about the amazon reviews that say they're very thin and easilly ripped... as Adam said though, they're probably idiots with sharp nails trying to force fit a size too small on their car. Sod it. For 10% off I can always send it back if I don't like it. 1 shaungtr 2 insolentminx 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10
  5. So we're still not sure the quality of these things? Has anyone else ordered one before?
  6. nice deal. Have you received yours yet?? I wanna know your thoughts of it.
  7. I'm sure Adam made thorough use of the 'search' function, and after reading all the relevant threads, deemed his questions unanswered, and felt the need to start a new topic to address the situation. ....
  8. there's always similar threads running at the same time people ask the same questions at least a couple times a week (no offense to Adam). But this is regarding a Gen 7, as that one is rgd a convertible... so not exactly the same...
  9. there's a few who talk about them being very thin and easily ripped... can't really find any other reviews, but I'm not always a fan of reviews on amazon. there's just not that many reviews online about them.
  10. reviews for the Mirage covers on amazon aren't inspiring.... have you received yours yet Shaun?
  11. I've got the same issues with my new flat... dedicated off-road parking right infront of my front door/under bedroom window... but under a tree tree sap, petals and bird poop I'm up for getting a decent cover, just need to know what size for the best fit. probably have to go for the large... Medium Car - Fits cars from 400cm - 430cm (13-14') in length e.g Ford Focus, Vauxhall Astra, Honda Civic, Volkswagen Golf, Mazda 3, Honda S2000, Audi TT. Large Car - Fits cars from 430cm - 480cm (14'-16') in length e.g Honda Accord Tourer, Volkswagen Passat, Vauxhall Vectra, Audi A4, Toyota Avensis, Toyota RAV4. Wheelbase 102.4 in (2,600 mm) Length 170.5 in (4,330 mm) Width 68.3 in (1,730 mm) Height 51.4 in (1,310 mm)
  12. I went for Longlife in Southend as had heard mixed reviews of Powerflow. http://www.longlife.co.uk/depots/exhausts-southend/ Keith the guy who runs it was very knowledgeable and pleasant to deal with. For my Tsport it was just over £200 for a cat back. They removed the large stock silencer and just fitted a sporty sounding muffler to match the kind of noise I wanted, with my tip of choice. You even go out for a drive after with them to check there's no funny noises. Not ideal if your car's on coilovers though as they have a bump to get into the workshop...
  13. can't offer too much advise other than if you plan on spending lots of money on mods for a car, don't start worrying about the resale value. You'll get nowhere near what you've put into it, so just enjoy the car for the awesome monster that you've created, and just accept that you'll probably be better off keeping it until it blows up.
  14. well I didn't get a chance to go out for a drive last night, but I did fit the new Razo knob. I've gotta say that just shifting into reverse on the driveway is sooooo much easier with the extra height of the knob! I'm not entirely sure how it will affect shifting on the move with the extra height, and the more phallic-shaped knob, compared to the small ball-shaped Auris knob, but I'm sure it'll take a little getting used to and hopefully provide a more positive shift. I'm also not sure if it'll completely negate the point of the shortshifter either, as the distance below the pivot point of the gearstick is still shorter than stock... it's just the length of the leverage above the pivot that has increased... so i suppose your hand has to move futher to provide the same movement as before with the smaller knob... but then i'm guessing it's still shorter than the movement required with the stock shifter. maybe... I dunno. Will road-test tomorrow. Meantime, pics: Stock shifter Shortshifter with Auris knob Razo (I'll be tidying up the Halek ring shortly...)
  15. I'm sorry, but no. if you have no injuries, don't claim for them. he made a stupid move, but there's no point in making a fraudulent claim because of it. edit: just seen the above. sowwy.
  16. sad sight. glad to hear you're ok, and hope you can get the full value from the van's insurer
  17. i think Edd said he did it when he got the car (or something) I'll get it done when I have the time/money Does it have to be a special Redline performance oil, or are they all the same?
  18. hahaha i'll be sure to tell Laura that when I next see her... i do love the feel of a big knob anyway, so i'm sure i'll enjoy this new one
