No, it where an option so ive been told. There is a thread somewhere where it lists what model had what, standard ss1 has the low power 1.8 the ss2 the 3SGE 2L with either mcpherson or strut(which usually from what ive noticed the LSD s54 gearbox)
I went standard, as I wont be doing track days in mine. I wanted the reliability an not the hastle of having a upgraded clutch an flywheel. I got fitted for 320 I where happy with and still am:-)
Mines going on for 160k just had a new clutch fitted not to long ago, it made a huge difference in how my celica drove, alot smoother an quicker:-). Just saving up for a brake overhaul at the moment. Keep it mate, like what's just been said its cheaper then getting a new car,an much much better in many ways:-D
ive got the 7928 cobra i t might worth giving this a try...
stand close to the car and press and hold down both buttons until the led on the remote key goes out-approximately 10 seconds. Release both buttons- the led will come on constantly. Then press button A(the largest one of the two) for approximately 1 second- the led will flash - this should complete resync
good luck mate there a right pain in the ass sometimes when they lose sync
