  1. If I read the IP65 waterproof code correctly its dust-tight and states; "Water projected by a nozzle (6.3mm) against enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effects. Test duration: at least 3 minutes Water volume: 12.5 litres per minute Pressure: 30 kN/m² at distance of 3m" Should OK on the outside aswell if you ask me
  2. Its a grey area now purely because of that wording, just be safe come MOT time and take 10mins to pop the standard bulbs back in
  3. Im about 30mins away from work where I work, I'm sure there will be someone closer
  4. I know I've bought the tiny plastic clips before, £7 from Toyota (old ones get brittle). Im just saying these are just the parts I know of amd have to get, and then there's fitting aswell and getting the car to a bodyshop (for the bumper at a minimum) without a courtesy car to use in the meantime It was playing on my mind sorting the parts and fitting etc, but to be honest now I've gone through the insurance to get my car fixed I can just relax!
  5. I was messaging AMS and he mentioned a metal bracket under the headlight - plus there's the plastic clip that goes between the wing and bumper. He doesn't have an exact unscratched/spoilt wing, which would mean a respray. The bumper I had smoothed so would prefer to keep it that way
  6. I was always going to let the insurance handle the other cars damage, I don't want to get involved on that side of things! I don't want to fork out for unseen damage or a swift deal to up the price with a bodyshop - not worth the hassle He didn't brake gently to a stop though, he braked hard too (so he said) but I know the facts when it comes to whos to blame
  7. Cheers yeah fingers crossed, not sure if you've heard of them... NK Motor Group in Chilwell ( http://www.nkaccidentandrepaircentre.co.uk )? Thats who my insurance company recommended I know theyve been around a long long time as I pass them on the way to work every day, cant find reviews on them which I guess is a good thing that no ones gone out of their way to complain/bad mouth them!
  8. The excess is for my damages/car only, I dont pay anything towards the third parties claim. If I chose to make the repairs myself to my car, I would not pay an excess I spoke to my insurance company and they confirmed what some of you said, told me making a claim for my own damages would not increase the premium even further that the original claim already will I've decided to go through the insurance and pay the £350 excess, does a top notch job then and by the book, and less hassle for me! Plus I get a courtesy car (when renewal comes Kev, I will look into removing this if its high!) Cheers for the advice anyway folks, but doing it myself would of meant £270 immediately in resprays (wanting to keep my current smoothed bumper) then I would have to source the wing etc, and brackets and so on
  9. Yeah I'm ok, still can't believe it happened and I have a major headache right now but that's just the stress of it Tempted towards replacing it all myself then And I know how these rear accidents go, and with their 3 witnesses they wont want to put any doubt on it being their fault so can't see them being any help. We will see though!
  10. The worrying thing was the gap, I removed the bolt behind the bumper for the headlight, and the bolt at the top of the headlight and it didnt make the gap smaller - dont know if thats how it is or if theres some serious damage hidden? I wish it would just T-cut on the bumper All the paints cracked and flaking, it was a really head knock!
  11. Things are already being processed through the insurance for the Focus driver, I dont trust people these days to not do things by the book When it came to my damages though, the insurance company said I can pay £350 excess and they fix it, or sort it myself. Again, wasnt sure if me doing my repairs through insurance would further increase my premiums
  12. Almost a near miss today (!), coming up the brow of a hill I decided to swap lanes (bad timing looking back) after checking my blind spot etc multiple times I failed to notice the cars right in front of me slamming on their brakes just over the hill. Managed to swerve but still clipped the back of a fairly new Focus. Heres the damage: Just wondering about afew things 1. Ive noticed an odd gap between the light/wing and the bonnet, larger on the N/S (passenger) where the impact was compared to the O/S, anyone else got this? Or can measure the gaps? Just curious that all the brackets etc will be twisted too, I undone the headlight and it didnt seem to move any close to the bonnet which I thought was weird 2. The accident will be classed as my fault, the third party (focus driver) will class as a claim against my insurance policy and losing my NCD right... So, if I claim for the damage on my car, will that further increase next years premium aswell? Also my excess is £350, do you think I should get a proper job done and go through my insurance or try and get the damage repaired myself? I had the same parts resprayed last year for £270
  13. Yeah theres a hole in a metal plate inside the lens, projects a spot for lighting up road signs As my HIDs are brighter and sit slightly differently, I opened the lens and covered the hole up, jobs a good'un Im keeping my HIDs until they blow/break, then will swap to these nightbreakers - only because I cant be arsed to keep changing them at MOT time. Other than that, I never get flashed, never get pulled, and their properly aligned - no harm done
  14. If you want the official Toyota part the number is #90467-07117 Or if you want a cheap alternative like I did, I bought these http://www.ebay.co.u...b#ht_500wt_1127 (Listings ended but its the same as these - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRIM-CLIPS-BODYCLIPS-X25-MERC-7MM-/290577567094?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43a7c5cd76 )
  15. It's not the law/MOT to have a spare, but if you do it has to be legal (thread depth etc) The AA are fussy when it comes to your tyres, they normally won't tow you back for free if you don't have a spare - they will tow you for free still though if the tyre isn't the right size/fitment or not road worthy! From my experience anyway
  16. USB freeview as in powered by USB or purely runs off USB? If its meant to run off USB, then no it work wont as the software obviously wont go into your HU, if just powered then you'll be fine. Better off with a standalone unit, then you can then use an AV in on the back of the HU to hook it up. Remember though the signal will be shite most of the time! USB splitter is OK for powering maybe, but not for actual data into the HU. Do what I did get a large SD card, OK so the initial scan when you start is alittle long (full 32GB takes about 15 seconds) but its discreet, no moving parts, and the 32GB at £17 from Play is cheap aswell. I got a card reader for like £1 off eBay aswell for my older computer that is full of music
  17. Actually if it was silver it would look terrible, its gone pretty saggy!
  18. I have no idea lol, previous owner did it! Looks alright in the flesh tbh, still... I wouldn't have it
  19. Nice! I suppose I should give my mates a quick mention too... http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3530029.htm Not as cheap though!
  20. I changed mine from the standard HU with no surround to a Sony one with the surround (needed pre-outs). I bought the surround from a lad on here
  21. I've used the Toyota/Sony surround that goes all the way around, but I've cut the bottom off as there's no room for it
  22. Yeah just had another look at the unit (got to open my present early lol) and can see now the brackets will do the job! Never liked cages to be honest, I like the way its bolted to the car with the brackets! Means if some dickhead does break into the motor they won't get away with the HU as easily
  23. From what Car Audio Centre said the Tsunami has affected the 3300BT stock aswell, everywhere is bumping up their prices now. I think they'll release a new model in March time anyway As for fitting, did you guys use the cage that come with it or screw it down with the brackets already in the celica?
  24. ^ I've got the pioneer 3300bt for Christmas Might fit it tomorrow ready for the drive home lol
