  1. Guys, do you use every day or classic insurance for Gen 6 GT. Are there any drawbacks with classic insurance and how much would a 1999 GT be worth with 102,000 on odometer. Also can anyone suggest a good classic company ? Thanks in anticipation >>>>>>.Stu
  2. Guys with regards to the new e10 petrol, I was having trouble with my petrol rotorvator, I just couldn't get it to run. Took it to my local garden machinery place and he managed to run and set it up. He was saying use the petrol with lowest ratio of ethanol possible as it had rotted the rubber grommets from the petrol tank he says it also degrades plastic pipes ( makes them brittle) and worst of all it attracts water which is not good for any engine. He suggested any petrol engine that is standing for 6 months or more to add stabiliser to the petrol tank. Could it rot the rubber O rings around injectors ?
  3. Hi Guys and Gals, I was speaking to an auto electrician the other day and he was telling me about ECU problems with late 80's early 90'S Toyotas. He has 2 late 80's 20valve Corollas and was having trouble with one of them, namely starting again after a run. Apparently Toyota fitted some inferior capacitors in various models his being one and MR2's as well and this affected American versions and import cars also. Other problems were rough running, alarm problems, poor starting etc. I can't remember the name of the capacitors but they were brown in colour. So has any one in the club had similar problems and found them extremely difficult to solve, if so it might be worth while removing the top of the ECU and checking if the said capacitors are leaking and replacements are fairly cheap and could stop the vehicle being scrapped. Other ECU's in the vehicle could also be affected. Not sure if Celica's were affected so it will be interesting to find out if any member has had similar problems. Regards Stu.
  4. Thanks very much for your input guys, I will definitely be bridgeing it out.
  5. Guys, the power steering grille on my 99 gen 6 is extremely rusty as you would expect on an item mounted in front of the radiator exposed to all sorts of debris and weather on a 23 year old car and if it should leak it would lead to power steering failure and rack and who knows what else. It seems it wasn't fitted to JDM models, so my question is has anyone else had problems with theirs and can the power steering be bridged out at the tank and if so I can change the fluid at the same time. Your advice would be appreciated .......... Stu.
  6. Use BP 97 octane petrol, no ETHANOL easy.
