  1. ha good answer! Got a nice dish to them i reckon.Car looks cool IMO
  2. Surely anything is better than standard gen7 brakes if thats what we're on about.Or do the gen4 method, wear a pair of sturdy boots and jam them through the holes in the floorpan.Instant improvement.
  3. ah good stuff,a car and owner worthy of extra protection!
  4. My heart would tell you to go with the GT4,but it would have to be a real good one if youre doing 15k a year and youre not doing a lot of work on it yourself..lot of expensive wear and tear if things go wrong plus petrol....saying that, though the gen7 may seem a sensible choice on paper you'd have to leave lift alone and be a bit sensible .Same with the faff though, boost is addictive... Depends on your earnings really mate,if you can sensibly afford to run a turbo car without it screwing you the moment something needs doing(like most cars TBH) id say go for the GT4.Rev3 3SGTE is a cracking lump and the 6 is the best built of the gens lets be honest.Whats the budget ?If you can afford a real good example GT4 ,and putting miles on the clock doesnt bother you then you might regret not buying one...
  5. Yep,its certainly had its moments along the way. All worth it though!By the way, cracking picture of your faff ..wheels and paint look niiice.
  6. My wife likes my car in as much as she likes the colour and the pop up headlights...she doesnt like me spending money on it though.Par for the course.
  7. Day i got the 162 MMM pink n rusty Inbetween AFTER
  8. Rust, constant attention to red paint to keep it red, rust, the fact that you can be as careful as possible and bolts still snap.Rust.Over-engineering on bits that dont need it.Under-engineering on some bits that do.Rust.The fact that i cherish it far too much sometimes and will never be an investment of any kind....and the fact that i dont care and probably should. And if you take your eye off it for a second,it rusts. This probably says more about me than the actual car,as it goes.
  9. Always hate to see threads like this.Had a few suspicious little dings and scratches appear on cars over the years, one of the worst was when someone keyed the bootlid of my Alfa 156 Sport2. It was mint, assume someone thought it was a nice car and decided it was their duty to help fuck it up for me,as they hadnt got one.
  10. I wouldnt even think about involving your insurance company for a wing miror, frustrating though it is.At your renewal whatever the outcome itll be "Made a claim did we Madam, how dare you actually make us have to do something in return for the money you pay us...i'll sharpen my biro while you get your money out" In fact unless you have a 100% set in stone claim for anything ,starting off the process is a waste of time and your money.Like said, would have been nice to have booted the ignorant bastards car at the time and see how he liked it.Some real arseholes about. He was probably an insurance salesman.
  11. right up my street all this. Gotta be done! Were those underbody plastics removed first though, looked like they were left on.? Sherv
  12. When i had my ST205 i came up behind a white VXR ,as id just changed gear he must have heard my FSSSHHH and took that as a challenge i spose and stuck his foot down,i didnt bother. He was torque steering all over the place as he accelerated away, but by fook it did go i have to say!Still a Vauxhall though.Pff. And yes, theres a lot of modern cars cars that i think shouldnt be allowed! They even do a Zafira VXR-ish hot version for christs sake.
  13. most likely an aux belt or a pulley of some sort, not sure on the jolt,if the timing was out it would probably be running with other symptoms?
  14. Just take back all the dirt and any surface crud as far as you possibly can to metal on the exposed parts and whatever you use put loads on. For starters i got the drill and wire cups out Ive used plenty of this, doesnt dry hard and crack off and box sections you can use this stuff Assume you done all that type of stuff before so probably preaching to the converted My 162: Fair play to you,not enough people doing this on a lot of cars and suffering later on because of the rust coming from inside out.And you dont have to have an 'old' car to get the rust as you know.Show us some pics when youre done!
  15. I say stick with what you know, you've no need to change as you know your mate wont have you over and theres a lot of slapdash mechs out there that give the good ones a bad name. Why take the risk, its not like youre travelling the country.Ive seen a few bad places in my time, but a lot of them still seem busy enough for some reason,a lot of people dont check or have a slight interest in whats under the bonnet, they probably dont get what theyre actually paying for half the time but theyd never know.
  16. I wouldnt even worry about that(or mention it) ,the fact is someones used something thats reacted with the paint, they knew it,and wheeled it out to you knowing full well it was buggered.Theres no excuse for that ,and frankly i wouldnt think twice about someones job,if thats the kind of level of service they think is acceptable then they shouldnt be in the job anyway, someone more deserving should have it.They didnt give a fuck about you or your car,so no sentiment in return needed there.Really hope you get it sorted mate,i cant believe they thought theyd get away with it.They should have pointed it out in the first place.
  17. I would not be as understanding as you to be frank,if i got my faff back in that state i would do my nut.Disgraceful customer service
  18. I've yet to see an old 'E' reg car that looks as good or feels as good to drive after 23 years as my gen4,Toyota for you
  19. The first set are lush on the right car,old skool all the way.Lose the decals though, look shit.
  20. Putting all the drinking buddy stuff aside,it is a proper car that.Hmmm.If it wasn't i'd tell you
