  2. I will be at snetterton this weekend staying at the newmarket premier inn,(will be taken the 6 but would have have taken the 7 with notice) would have been nice if any club members from the far flung corners of the country who are also BSB fans could arrange meets on the saturday before races oulton park, cadwell park, knockhill etc chance for club members and bike fans to meet up, just a suggestion !
  3. Thanks i should have known that as bought my daughter some for christmas two years ago.
  4. excuse my ignorance but what is G H D ?
  5. Has anybody noticed the difference between air filter and pollen filters. On both my gen7 and corolla the air filters are almost spotless the gen7 after nearly three years (kn) and the corolla after 12 months, yet both cars pollen fiiters are fiithy after only 12 months!
  6. I run both if they were both brand new and had i to make a choice it would be the 6 every time i have owned the 6 for 15yrs and except for the usual routine servicing parts the only thing i have needed to change has been the siren.Plus the tap and stop brakes still feel the same as the day i bought it. we call our gen7 " victoria " (spongy brakes)
  7. Is there anybody that does this supply and fit cf casings, i have already rounded off the screws on three mirrors, in 40yrs as a plumber i have never come across non rusty screws that were so hard to remove, what was toyota's point ?
  8. Happy Anniversary roy newton!

  9. Years ago before sat nav i changed the colour of the dials on my gen6, i used an early gps to to reset needle, drove on private road with needle off, with gps showing 30mph stuck needle back on it has been spot on ever since.
  10. i have tryed that one only to find when one returns the nice car has gone and the rust bucket moved in, some times on either side ! The only one i found that worked at one time but not any more, was in the sixties when they first built multi storey car parks in swansea they had many double spaces, i would park on the middle line it always worked especially on a saturday night, after several years i was warned about continuing this (selfish ?) practice.
  11. i don't have a toyota related number but do have a work related one on my corolla verso, being a plumber,it's H2O NWY (welsh for gas) but although i live in a non welsh speaking area people nearly allways comment, oh i see you have NWY welsh for gas what does H2O stand for !
  12. i once parked my g7 in the large empty car park to rear of the Forge restaurant St clears, when we came out there was a huge low loader with a massive show ground traction engine on it parked at right angles to our car ! we had about two inchs either side to get out, the rest of the car park was still empty the same thing happened last year at the premier inn at donington park, only this time the trailer had farm implements on it, this time we could not get out and had to go to reception to get it moved, we asked the rock ape of a driver why he had parked liked he had, he just shrugged his shoulders. as for parking away from everyone else at the supermarket only to come out and find you have started a line i give up !
  13. know how you feel mate, some alcholic neighbours had a party and according to another neighbour one thier guests came into the street and started kicking hell out of his own car, well it was a fraud, my nieghbour challenged him and he then went of down the street kicking cars mine took a real bang on the n/s front wing, other nieghbour took down the number of the fraud, the incident was reported to the police but by the time they turned up three days later my nieghbour had managed to mislay the number and my camera was switched off that night.
  14. just a little story for the younger ones of you, in 1972 i was driving my 3 ltr capri down to brands hatch for the f1 end of season victory race very early in the morning on the south circular road when another 3 ltr capri came up behind me, what ever i did i could not drop it after several miles it drew along side me at a set of lights i looked across and saw the driver was frank williams of grand prix team fame (i had seen him race many times before he became a team owner) i said to myself sod this for a game of soldiers and that was the end of my jack the lad boy racer days, for frank the rest is history
  15. same, my 82 gen3 coupe was the first 100 % car i ever owned, had it for 12yrs, my gen 5 was the same, my gen 6 is 15 years old, it would take a lot to prise it away from me i just love driving it, iam just glad i did not trade it in when i bought my gen 7 (if only the brakes matched the 6 i might feel the same about it ! )
  16. thanks both of you most appreciated, have since noticed there is a red plug fiited to the battery i bought off mr t for my corolla verso a shall be removing it. it would be nice it manufactures stuck some kind of instruction sticker to the casing, in 50 yrs of buying batteries you learn something new!
  17. thanks i have read it but it is not very clear, does it mean to pull out red stopper on side of battery and then fit red L shaped tube and then leave in place?
  18. i have just bought the bigger style battery for my gen7 (a yuasa) it comes with a little red L shaped tube attached to the top,iam told this for breathing purposes, can anyone explain in what circumstances this would be used please?
  19. been using my gen6 for years for the occasional plumbing job, my insurance company know about it as long as don't use it full time(corolla verso for that!)
  20. my 14 year old sailed through the other week only failure was two years ago (rear brake pads)these gen6s are realy amazing when it comes to mots, then again i had a gen3 for fifteen years (it was rust proofed from new) only failed one mot its twelfth cross member needed welding!
  21. i had this problem about 2 years ago, took out horn fuse to stop alarm. the cause on my car was water entering alarm and damaging circuit board, replacement was a sealed unit (alarm is under the battery)
  22. i always do that but you would not believe how many times one comes back to find you have just started a parking line, i once parked my gen7 in the empty part of a restaurant car park only to come out and find a low loader with a fair ground traction engine on it partly parked across the front of my car (when there was plenty of room else were) leaving me only inches to get out!
  23. sailed through mot today,i had a good look around underneath while up on ramp,it is so clean and rust free, amazing for a 14 year old car (have seen other makes of car that are rust buckets half that age) no advisories,it now surpasses my much lamented gen3. in that time except oil plugs etc it has cost me a new alarm siren, set of rear brake pads, new set of tyres and had the sticking throttle problem which thanks to you lot i now keep under control
  24. levers had come apart, cable had come out of its holders at both lever and flap end (had to take out ariel to get at that one!) return spring missing, put everything back together, working like new, thankyou
