  6. i sold my oz rims to a lad just setting out in measham in referbs , hes a spray shop doing wheels and was offering a discount at £100 for the set of 4 ive his card arouns somewhere if anyones interested , ive not used them myself but it seems a plan
  7. its the clutch , you were loading it and making it slip whioch is a sign its worn out or the springs are weak , it also means its not long for the world either way so id have an ask around for a price for a change sticking it into 6th wouldnt work to check the clutch , try pulling off in 3rd also when in second and going up a decent hill dip the clutch and rev a bit , drop it and heavy on the throttle , that will make the bastard slip
  8. back to college with you i dont think ive come across a course just on bodywork for adults before , seen a few on general renovation work so perhaps pop along and ask if you could do this but concentrate of just the bodywork side ? we will have you lead loading before you know it
  9. better than that you can see the owner ! the blonde lady , when we went to view the car i didnt stand a chance , she was wearing a white totally see through top with a bright pink bra underneath and light blue jeans , im trying to look at the car whilst nursing a semi , the mrs was farrrrr from impressed
  10. thats really cool tried the glanza and what would you know ? http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&cp=6&gs_id=m&xhr=t&q=de74aj&safe=off&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&biw=1280&bih=557&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x4879ebf9b27132af:0x47bbf20dd27bfe23,Ilkeston,+Derbyshire+DE7+4AJ&gl=uk&ei=34kwTs2FJ4K0hAehy806&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=image&resnum=1&sqi=2&ved=0CBgQ8gEwAA a white gen 5 !!!!
  11. no torque so it wouldnt be able to pull the mass along , thats why haybussa engines in really lightweight cars go like stink but wouldnt work in say a diesel bmw
  12. the difference between the 2 engines is rather alot , the beams is in effect a turbo engine with no turbo and a different top end , this means if nothing else its strong , it has a single vvt-i top end theres not 40 brake difference , theres 20 , thanks to fuel differences in japan meaning that really the beams has about 191-192 bhp at the fly and a 3s-ge has 171 although people will tell you it has ohhh 171-174-179 depending if they own one or not , im being honest here , people can argue the figures but this is how i see them the 20 bhp difference doesnt sound much but in real life it shows massively , the beams feels a completely different animal , its vibratory , its sharp , it pulls harder and if you go over 5,500 you cant hear the stereo , it also does a little more to the gallon and makes a celica feel much more like a sports car , you drive it more aggressively as the car wills you on , given the other toys it makes the ss-111 very very nice to own and drive , dont get me wrong at times you still crave a bit more power but then if you had 500 bhp at times you would want 600 , on the road the powers interesting , i like the fact that at 100-120 theres not alot of difference between this and the gt4 when you already have the engine spun up , the turbo will eat it on all other accounts but believe me when i say if it was a local blast that turbos going to be giving it 90% to stay with a well driven beams , we also dont have to live with 10 mpg when playing at silly bastards and we also dont have to worry about it turning to shit if we stop and knock the engine off without it being run for 30 seconds at the petrol station  its also argueable that the beams is easier to tune and responds better to tuning than a 3s-ge , theres a host of select items available to the must go faster people in japan from cams to funky manifolds and vrs ecus , its also nice to know the bottom ends good for 400-500 bhp in standard form so try killing that then ! and the top end 300 bhp as for the mr2 best bets to find 1 already done as its not easy to source all the bits needed for the swop , the beams has a vvt-i top end and this is run through the ecu , not easy to get hold of , you can find an engine for £875 if you know where to look but it is a waste of time without the ecu
  13. i quite like hondas , some are boring as sin but you cant help but enjoy a nice crx as for chavs i just cant forgive them , spending the sort of money these idiots do on pug 106`s and the like is beyond stupidity , you can buy a quality car for the cost of the paint alone so what is the point ? is a modded corsa really a statement when there friggin loads out there and its all along the same theme ? no , its money after bad , sad to say a friend of mine could only afford a 1.0 festa and yet spent twice on it what it had cost to buy my 200sx , the insurance difference was the cost of the car itself , he would have spent less if he had brought mine before me andddddd would have done more to the gallon as he would have been giving it alot less to do the same speeds
  14. hes dropped the wheel on and then jacked the car down forgetting to tighten the nuts , these thing happen from time to time get the car jacked up asap and make sure theres been no thread damage , also check out the wheel itself to see if the tyres been rubbing and make sure its not got holes knocked into it , id do this before your next drive like ,,,,now
  15. sounds like your going to end up paying out 30 quid for a logbook a logbook is NOT proof of ownership , it is a bit of paper used to CHANGE ownership only , if lost ya have to buy another 1 , it doesnt mean the person whos named on the logbook is the owner at all but only at some point hes listed himself as responsible for the car the green new owner strip is a waste of time , it can be used to re-tax the car do yourself a favour and spend 10 quid making sure the cars not nicked or has outstanding finance on it before buying
  16. would have thought its the cv joint , has it been touched at all ? could also be the brakes depending on the noise , do me a favour and dont drive it until you have jacked it up and had a good look round to make sure its safe , id also give the fella a shout whos recently done the work and tell him theres a noise , he should come sort it out for you asap
  17. being honest id look at the maths , theres a remote chance asdas selling fuel from a shagged pump and its under charging , theres also a remote chance it was a better blend with a decent flashpoint and higher ron but ive never ever managed 29 mpg out of any of the gt4`s ive owned so ?
  18. aint never gunna know unless you do the following brim it , zero the clock , drive for as long as you need , go back to the same pump ( if its still the sam eprice ) and brim it again look at the letres used , devide the miles into this then times by 4.5 gives you mpg an example 60 litre used 300 miles covered 300/60= 5 5 x 4.5 = 22.5 mpg i do this stuff while driving including working our a rolling mpg as i watch the odometer and average speeds , man im a nurd
  19. TR+D gen 6 race car was 630 bhp and gold ...... ( i can never remeber his friggin name , fella in ashby ) runs his gen 5 at 527
  20. so how will the off chance of a few hundred quid being returned and a lovely pile of ccj`s help ?
  21. my experiences are simple enough every time i have approached them they offer unrivaled service and quality , they work out of immaculate workshops and have wonderful displays of there present ranges theres a reason for this if a job is worth 50 quid an hour they charge £120 + vat your paying for the shiny showroom theres was once a time where toyota could be considered for work , simple reason is theres a book with the hrs writen down on how long a job costs , the parts are a known entity so its just down to the book hours to up the price , if a book gives it as 2 hrs for a clutch then its a good price given that the local mechanic may charge less but would take longer , you would get a first class service for the same money as second class , they would check out the car fully ( hunting for more work ) and wash and vac it for you ( good service ) recently thought the continued price hikes mean toyotas themselves are now at approx twice what the layman pays elsehwere regardless of the speed , mix in the price of parts are now a serious serious piss take then i for 1 dont really care if toyota continue on as a company , to supply only a spring for a st185 i was quoted £180 , thats 1 spring , i dont know about the vat , based on this its possible you would be charged a thousand pounds to have all your springs changed , for this they can suck my greasy cheesy stump , no way , recently it was £840 or so for a drive shaft !!!!!! GTFO toyota
  22. ok you look at the highest interest , decide which is the worst of the lot and pay this off instantly , aim backwards to clear all the highest interests first , an overdraft may have a 30% interest rate on it as do some credit cards this will then most likely leave you with 2700 outstanding as being owed is a bastard to get money back now take out a credit card with virgin and transfer the money owed across to this card , they will charge 3% for this , now pay off every penny you can afford every month to clear the debt , you would previously be paying 2.5% in interest every month so as a minimum pay this on top of the minimum from the statement , this will most likely be about £115 so aim to pay 140 a month , this method will save you approx £120 a month in interest alone .................. you will have 19 months on the credit card interest free , it will take 20 months to clear the debt , you really have to get a frame of mind that these bastards are evil and forcing you to live beyond your means , you need to scrimp and get realistic with money realizing you on a path to shit and unhappiness based on poor money management , if you can get your head around the idea of keeping your phone for 2 years not 6 months , cooking your own food and not spunking it on a take out , inviting friends round to sup a crate for 15 quid from asda and not doing £150 on a night on the piss , selling some of the shit you have around that was brought on a whim and isnt really wanted or needed but it seemed a good idea at the time etc etc , if you get your head around this you will not owe feck all and will given a short time be a home owner on a path to a bloody good financial future debt is the norm these days , its a reflection of the american consumerism that we have been forced upto , debt should be seen as a massive weight around the sholders and not something everyone has http://uk.virginmoney.com/virgin/credit-cards-v3/ http://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/ http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/ the final link is a site that if you go with the spirit of things will help you out no end CAB are staffed as pro bono work from the professionals such as solicitors and accountants , it is part of the licensing agreement that they do free work ( pro bono ) , becuase of this and the small fact its run by volunteers means you may not get to speak to someone for a fair amount of time , they helpfull when all else fails but tend not to go in depth due to time considerations if you need any further advise then ask away , pleasure to help
